You think you still have room on the quicktime pro's?
Have you been checking them for "hazing" to see if they are wearing evenly?
You have a god 0-15psi pressure gauge right? Anything else tends to suuuuuuuuck. Mine can read 0.25psi. Much better then the 0-100psi gauge i tried to use before, which was always off a few psi anyways.
For me, 9-11 psi gets me a nice even wear pattern, but I might need to go to 8psi depending on what slick size I choose next year. Higher pressures wore the middle and lower pressures cupped the slick. I dont care if the slicks look like they are flat as long as the wear pattern is good.
Write down your settings in the future! :P
I would just give up on making a last pass rather then rush, even though it was a long trip. Your car is more investment then a trip to the track. I do everything wrong when i am rushed.

Were you towing a Enclosed trailer, up a mountain starting at 4000ft going to over 9000ft?
at 9000ft that 403hp is down to about 250hp... 250hp moving about 14,000lb between the SUV and what it is towing, UP a mountain, and with the huge wind residence of a Enclosed trailer. Try that some time.
From what I remember from the NG, you towed a Open tralier, on prity much flat ground, and most of the trip you are very close to see level. You have a older Escalade with the 340hp 6.0L correct?

What are these inserts like? A high pressure pop-off valve? In steam engines that use a meltable lead plug, but that probably wouldn't react fast enough for this and there would be a chance of sucking lead into the engine.
Sort of.
It's a burst disc that you bolt to the side of the manifold that has some stress marks made in it so that the thin piece of metal bursts open at 60psi or whatever disc pressure you get.
Therefore if there is an explosion, the disc blows and you replace it by bolting down a new one.

Hmmm....at the time of ng 06 my truck was the "newer" model with the 6.0..ya. I had a 20ft flat bed bob cat trailer which weighed in close to 3200lbs. Plus my car which isn't very light, 1400miles, and 115 degrees of heat with a full load inside. But, i also towed my 22ft enclosed with it from NY to MD many times up and down pretty steep mountains.....just caught me off guard when you mentioned it had problems. Im just about to get a new EXT, and now i may not after reading your post.
I don't have time to read the whole thread, but before my post is buried on page 123904235, I just wanted to say congrats, Matt! That's a dirty pass, but it sure was nasty In case it hasn't been asked yet, what's with you missing gears? That's so unlike you. Are the synchros toast? If it has been asked, ignore me

Ya IMO it's defently not a good tow truck, at least not at this alitude. I'v only ever towed heavy loads with diesel trucks thow, maby I'm just spoiled. Things IMO the Escalade would need to be a good tow truck, More power, better cooling system, and a larger trany cooler. (the truck can read out trany temp digataly, and not towing it hovers around 160deg, towing it was huvering around 250 deg!). Being at see level the power thing should not be a problem, but the other 2 you should look into if you get one.
