Matt, I understand you are o-ringing your block while you have it apart. Are you going to be switching to copper gaskets? I'm curious to hear what your thoughts are re: the stock head bolts. Are you still using them and if so, are you going to continue to use them with the o-ringed heads?

I'm going to be using Copper wire in the O-ring in the block, and Stock Mitsu MLS Head Gaskets, and stock head bolts.
Up till now what I have been using is Stock MLS gaskets, Stock head bolts, and not pushed a drop of coolant at 35psi of boost.

Any reason in particular you chose copper wire o-rings over stainless steel o-rings? Do you happen to know how much your o-rings are going to protrude from the block?
Since you have faith in the stock head bolts, I think I'm going to forego ordering A1 research studs and I'll try my luck with o-ringed heads/OEM MLS/OEM head bolts. Thanks for the info.

Because you cant use a Stainless Steel O-Ring with a Steal Head Gasket, something has got to give.
matt. running 7s is the only way to beat the 6 speed supra now, but with 1300-1400awhp you should be able to beat it with traction. it would have been better if you had 6 speed. then you could beat vipers and supras and the same time. i belive if you get the new SCE's center diff, it'll allow you to run larger and wider tires on the back. SCE is looking for two people with high HP drag car and road racing car so they might get you a good deal. the supra is not full weight anymore. i think it weights somewhere around 3180lbs with the driver.
Sw's Supra is the King right now. 60fting 1.2x and getting 145 in the 1/8th mile and topping out the 1/4 at 185mph. and Kean from Boostlogic and Sw Say it will go 7.7x@19x. Now that Shep territory and he's been on break LOL for over 2 years.
matts working on what i think the most important thing is at this point, the 60 foot. Trying to keep dropping your et by way of trap speed is an uphill battle do to increasing drag. A benefit in the 60 helps all the way down the track. Wider tires with a significant offset so that the weight of the car is put down closer to the center of the car will help a lot.
taller tire out back...? i see what you're getting at but wouldnt that heat up the center diff like crazy

he has a welded center diff so if the tires be different by small amount the diff will blow up. that's why the Torsen torque-sensing made by SCE would let him to run different tire size on the back. he can run much wider and a little taller tires on the back with that. it will not be like our stock vcu that has clutches that can worn out, so it'll last for ever.
