Default Identifying DR500 turbos?

Is there any easy way to tell if a set of turbos I bought is DR500 turbos? (Aside from bolting them on and seeing how they dyno)

I got a set from a member on here and want to make sure they are truly DR500s. I had a bad experience on another forum where someone misrepresented a turbo and I got screwed on the deal.

Thanks.

I wish I knew.

The DR500 vs 9B pics look the same to me. The DR650 I see the difference though.

I know you posted this a while back, but it's easy to tell. Just compare them to 9Bs. The inlet to the compressor on the DR500 will be larger on the internal diameter and the visible part of the compressor wheel will be obviously larger.

Hope that helps...

It does, other than I don't have any 9bs off yet to compare it to. I think stock inlet is 36mm, so I'll check and see. Thanks!

I measured the inlet to the compressor, and it's the same on the front 9B of my car, and the front turbo I purchased. When you say internal diameter, you mean right next to the compressor wheel, right? I can't see that part very well, as the stock 9B is still bolted on the car.

Pull the compressor housing off and measure the wheel. Inducer and exducer post those numbers. That will be the sure fire way. It does look as though the one you posted appears to be milled out doesn't have the taper you find on the 9Bs but it is hard to see in the pictures. also post the turbine too. most people don't clip the wheel of a 9B.
