Well I think we know for sure that the intake pipes and or the stock rubber "Y" intake fitting were a restriction. My new Blow threw Arc-2 set-up seems to be working.
The car made 1031 hp at 35psi, but I ran into a strange problem, something this car has never done before. With the 3" intake pipes I made on the car it would make 1030-1031 hp pull after pull, but in the 5000RPM range the car would surge for about 600 RPM or so then clean to and make a fine pull. Now here is were it gets really strange, If I would pull the intake pipes off the inlets to the turbos and let them run just open turbo it would loose 40hp and make 990-993hp but the surge would go away. Put the pipes back on changing nothing els the car would go back to 1030-1031 hp and the surge would come back lol. I know turbos don't like to run just open inlet because the air does not hit the blades strait on so that accounts for the loss in power. That and the front turbo ingesting Hot air that just went threw the FMIC, OIL cooler, and Radiator What’s also interesting with removing the intake restriction is the car would make the same boost as before but with the DSBC set 25% lower!. But were before no matter what setting I had the DSBC at it would stop at 32psi of boost now it went to 35 easy (were I ran out of fuel again, time for a 3rd meth nozzle lol). And it would make 35psi with the DSBC set 15% lower there were it made 32psi before. We got to the dyno late (it's a 2 hr drive from here) so we did not get much of a chance to play with it much to try and figure out what’s going on. On top of that it was 107 deg today and the car was getting hot if I tried to do 2 pulls in a row with out letting it cool down pull something it never did when it was 80 deg out. So we had to wait a wile after each pull to let it cool down. Man it was so hot in that Dyno room, I bet I drank 3 gallons of water wile we were there. I’m thinking that with the intake restriction gone and the air hitting the compressor in a efficient manner, the car is now moving too much air for the motor to take at too low of a RPM causing the surge. I may pull the turbos and clip the turbine wheels to test my theory, or just go to a stage 5 turbine. Going to have to think on that one. Hell it may just be something I can fix in the tune, I really just did not have enough time to try different things. The problem is these Dyno trips to El Paso are Expensive between the $200 on diesel to get there and back, and the renting the dyno, the price if C16 for the car is almost mind boggling now, and not being here to take orders. Yikes I don’t even want to think about it lol…. It's really surprising what a difference the outside temp makes. When we were dynoing the car back when it made 955hp and it was 80deg out, after a full dyno pull you could touch the intake and with the Meth spraying threw it it would be cool to the touch. Now if you tryed to touch the intake manifold after a dyno pull it would burn you. Same thing with FMIC the discharge side of it after a pull when it was 80 would be just "warm" after a pull. Now OMG i think I burned my finger print off touching it after a pull. That Dyno room today was like being in hell.

I could kill you with....

How long is the surge lasting? Have you eliminated valve timing issues as a potential cause?
Also, since electronics are subject to heat failure, have you investigated any circuits that may be activating at those RPMs or those temperatures? I strongly recommend a good silver thermal compound and a heat sink for any electronics you can get to. |

What about the throttle body? Investigate the forces on the plate at those RPMs. Never heard of this before, but maybe the plate is subject to so much turbulance that it flutters. I know it sounds stupid, but you're in uncharted territory.

Funny you should mention that, I thought about that also. I did not have much time I did not try 1 deg at a time, but I went from +1 on the intake and -3 on the Exhaust at +2 on the intake and -5 on the Exhaust for a pull. Thinking adding more overlap would maby fix it. Did not work it just moved ithe surge up about 200 rpm . (and it lost some HP, so I moved it back to +1, and -3 and the power came back)

that's bad-ass. nice numbers for just a piggy back. it would help if you buy a dyno. i bet you can get your money back after 6 months if you dyno couple cars every day and get some dyno days. how is your knee? it seems like you are better. when are you going back to track. let see some low 8s with 170+mph.![]()
