It's all stock.

The wastegates were plumbed according to the diagram that came with them, which did not work very well. Then we found a digram from someone else's thread that was backwards from the first diagram, that configuration did not work much better.
The tune is fine, and there is no ginormous boost leak. The SBC-id was adjusted in many increments from 10-80 on the gain with minimal changes, and the boost setting has been adjusted in many increments from 45 to 75 with minimal changes. The engine currently is boosting 8.4 psi @6000 RPM. A good manual boost controller from another car was tried, and it had no effect. I'm a little hesitant to unplug the wastegates on his car, but I'm getting to that point very quickly......

Take the boost sense hose off and apply a regulated air source to it.. Find out what pressure the wastegates open at. That way you can see if they're over-active without leaving the shop..
You can also temporarily tee a pressure gauge into the wastegate hose, and see if they're getting pressure on the test drive..

Seeing how you have 14psi WG springs, most likely only thing that could be causing your problem is a HUGE boost leak.
AS for how to hook up the WG's I explained to you over the phone how to do it, it's not hard. The Side ports go to striate manifold pressure, and the top ports go to the “out” port on your boost controller (with the “in” port going to your IC piping). Like I told you on the phone get these from DIFRENT sorces. If you only hook up the side ports to manifold pressure and nothing to the top ports you will make 14psi. Wait a second, did you remember to put the lower rings in the WG's? the ones the valve seets on? If you forgot to install those your not going to be able to make much boost. because the WG will basically be open all the time. But no matter what the problem is for gods sake stop driving the car till you figure it out!!! If you do have a boost leak those turbos are not going to last long overspeeding trying to pressurize the planet earth.

And a car can be tuned with a huge boost leak. You need to pressure test your system. Last edited by SnakeSkinner : 07-13-2008 at 03:32 PM. |

Talked to customer, his car was running on 4 cil. his Injector connectors were not connected. Guess it's hard to make boost with only 1 Cil, on the rear bank firing lol.
Problem fixed and car running fine and making boost the way it should now. |
