That's not too cool, if you're purchasing from them they should be happy to keep your business one would think.
Vendors name would be nice, but you never know if the thread will stay open if so.

I will go ahead and post up as this is about my dealings with Kaddo. The MAP ECU2 was in fact defective according to Joe at Powerhouse Racing. MAP ECU does NOT give refunds, they are taking the defective unit back and sending another unit which usually would get sent back to the customer. As I have been taking care of Kaddo for a good while now and he is a great customer I was willing to bend the rules on that and give him 100% refund on the MAP ECU2 as he was going to exchange it towards another product. The harness was bad as well, not our fault as Autosport Wiring wired the PnP harness according to MAP ECU. After some emails were exchanged I was tired of waiting on their decision so I decided to go ahead and refund him the harness and handle the harness issue on my own. He then wanted me to quote him on a AEM standalone with all the goodies which I did so and gave him a VERY good deal on it as AEM raised their retail over $200(which has not been updated on MY site, he was given a quote BELOW my advertised price which is already below where it needs to be). He contacted me today to inform me that he is going to purchase a used unit for cheaper and requested I paypal him the refund. We do NOT do paypal refunds but we would gladly send him a check(all policies on refunds are on our site). Under our policies it also states that there are absolutely no returns after 30 days of purchase, these items were purchased last summer.

All our policies on returns/warranty: http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/merchant/mvpterms.htm

I have bent the rules a bit on our normal policies as the OP has fallen into some bad luck with these products and I understand that. He was sold the MAP ECU2 at cheaper than advertised price and also sold him the harness at OUR cost. Every order he has placed with me he has provided links to places that advertise for cheaper and I will price match or even go lower(as I did on all his orders) to make the customer happy. A few of you know me and have dealt with me, I am by no means trying to screw him over there are certain policies that I cannot get around. They were set in place by the owner of MVP and are clearly on our site.

EDIT: Just to clarify on the restocking fee issue. I will be restocking both items. The MAP ECU2 will be sent back to New Zealand where they are located and they send us back a NEW unit for stock. The harness will be sent back to Autosport wiring for testing and once the problem is solved it will be sent back to us and sit on the shelf. So both items WILL be in our stock.

And that is exactly what I thought happened.

The product is far past the return policy
And the restocking fee only applies if he doesn't buy another product

Either eat the restocking fee, which you should be happy about since he is taking the product back at all
Or be happy that he is willing to exchange it out for you, especially since he is willing to let you change products after this long

Kaddo,

You do not HAVE to purchase the AEM from me. If you found it at a cheaper price that is 100% ok with me, it is a used unit so I cannot compete with that. If you would not like to pay the restocking fee I will gladly give you 100% store credit with NO restocking fees.

Regards,
Robert

awesome. I would take that Kaddo, you did wait a very long time to take care of this and I think MVP and chops are being VERY cooperative.

note: I bought some items from MVP last summer and chops was VERY helpful and I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Just so everyone knows, the store credit with no restocking isn't something that I'm doing only for Kaddo. That option is available to ALL our customers. Although Kaddo didn't want to release MVP's name in the original thread I wanted to go ahead and jump in as I feel I have nothing to hide on this issue.

Echo,

Thank you very much for the kind words, I look forward to your next purchase!!

Regards,
Robert

Ok i do like you Robert you did treat me nice. Also what you say is true but also sugar coated as well. When i bought the mapecu2 and the harness from you as soon as i got it we exchanged e-mails and pms for 2 months about what to do with the harness. It was wired for a 1st gen and didnt have the iat hook up conntector. on top of that the second o2 sensor wasnt wired in and and the first was wrong also the baro either. I paid 355 for a prewired harness and got a half wired and wrong at that. So what does rob say at mvp "will give you a hook up price on your next purchase" (gtpro move right their). so now 3 months have gone by now give or take and i have kept in touch with him. he said these things happen your the first to buy the harness and never offered any money back or to exchange it mind you. So i then told him im having problems with the unit a couple weeks later from fixing the harness after we decided i had to rewire it!
so lets recap real quick. I bought it and as soon as i got it i found a problem let him know about it. then i also found that alot of wires are wrong or not wired and i didnt want to touch the harness before hand so i was told to anyway. I told him i bought a "prewired" harness for that reason so i didnt have to do this.
Ok so now i wired everything up and now the car wont start (this whole time i have been in touch with rob) so i had a local shop check the car bumper to bumper and said it was fine (500$ spent). so i pulled the unit and it was bad. so how could i knw with in 30 days the unit was bad when we went back and worth for some time about the harness? So all in all i was sold a harness not as discribed and a faulty mapecu2 unit? Also on top of that i was giving them progress reports of the development from the start and i only got promised "hook-up deals" from mvp.
Also the deal with the harness i had to post up on mapecu2 forums to get the refund. Joe at power house racing told rob to give me a full refund for the unit cause it was defective and rob told me that was ok (credit). and Rob IMed me on aim laughing how as soon as i posted on mapecu2 forums they told him to give me the refund and they will deal with the harness. i was told that the harness and mapecu2 by rob im an IM on AIM that they would not be restocked. now this is news to me. Also on top of all this Rob said AEM new price for ems for the 3kgt is 2000 dollars. So we can hope for some good hook up prices for the unit

I agree - "re-stocking fees" are BS anyway, and should be illegal.
What exactly are you paying for? Give me a break.....

1. You contacted me ASAP regarding the IAT and that was a mistake on MAP ECU's part for not specifying that in the wiring diagrams. You contacted me on Oct. 22 according to my AIM logs on the other issues.

2.The harness WOULD sell for around the same price as the MAP ECU2 harness for Supra which is $450,which can be seen on our site, and you paid $255. I have the invoice to prove that.

3. AEM's retail did go up according to my 2008 price sheet from them. AEM standalone new retail is now $2310.78. You are more than welcome to contact AEM to confirm that.

If there are any other questions that you feel need to be answered let me know.

Regards,
Robert

Cant log phone calls and this entire deal was based off of alot of phone calls. Anyhow i think MVP handled this situation fairly well. talked with Roberts boss and im getting a refund and only taking a 15% restock fee on just the mapecu2 unit.
Ill post an update once i get the refund....
