Default Bearing-loaded short throw shifter install issue

I installed this yesterday:

Short Shifter - Bearing-Loaded 3000GT/Stealth*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth

The throw is fine, but even with the adjustment on the select cable all the way out, the bottom of the shift lever arm hits the base of the shifter assembly where it connects to the plate. I found threads on other similar shifters, but not specifically the one I purchased.

When I put my stock shifter back in without changing the adjustment I have no problems with shifting. Looking at the shifters side-by-side the bottom of the short throw arm looks to sit 1/4in-1/2in closer in than the stock unit.

I can take pictures of it installed if needed, but I needed to go someplace and I have reinstalled the stock unit.

Any suggestions?

I see your problem. As far as i know the 91 and 92 and early 93 cars have a differant shifter base. In 93 they started comming with the shorter shifter and the base is differant. Im sure with a little fabrication you can make it work. Or get a shifter base from a 93+ car and you will be set.

they sell one for 91-92 (what i purchased) and another version for 93+. i wonder if a have the 93+ version instead? half an inch difference on the angle and there would be no issue with mine, i think.
