Re: Report: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring Priced from $40,990
A little too rich for my blood. If i had 47,000 cash for a car, i dont think this is the one i would be getting.
I think a 2 door evo would be a cool.Im just saying...

Don't think they really missed the boat, its in line to compete with the sti which is in the same class.. However it would be pretty sweet to see them release a two door version with a 3.8 TT with this same awd system
Re: Report: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring Priced from $40,990
Its funny how they are going after the euro market but for 47k you can get a used Benz and put some D's on that bish..lol. 47k for an AWD Civic is just retarded, take it down to around the tune of 25k and that will put it into a reasonable marketing value. Most people that have 47k to spend on a car are not going to buy a Mitsubishi anyway.

Re: Report: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring Priced from $40,990
I'd wait for the next version of the S60-R rather than an EVO. The 3/S is probably the last Mitsubishi product I'll buy, especially given their current line-up of vehicles. There's a reason sales are down - their cars are either overly bland or overpriced. The EVO is still, as everyone has said, an econobox on steroids. Is it a terrible car? No it has some gratifying qualities, but for many people they would not justify giving out over $40k for one - myself included.
Other cars I would rather have than an EVO:
Volvo S60-R 6-Speed
Volvo S40 T5 AWD R 6-Speed
BMW 135i
Genesis Coupe
Nissan 370Z
(...just to name a few off the top of my head, I'm sure I could come up with 20 more if I really looked at some other cars)
Resale value on a Mitsubishi is not good, their dealerships and service departments are typically not good, and overall reliability compared to their Honda or Toyota competitors is not good. In other words there's very little they have to offer that the largest majority of consumers would want.
You're probably better off waiting for Hyundai to make an AWD Genesis coupe before Mitsubishi builds something even remotely comparable.
People vote with their checkbooks and once again, for the EVO, I continue to vote 'NO'.

That's like saying a 1999 3000GT VR-4 really isn't a 3000GT because there's a drivetrain difference between the VR-4 and the SOHC base model. You can slap on vented hoods, a different drivetrain, and a rear subframe but the car IS a Lancer. If I was legally blind you could probably convince me of this, but last time I checked the sky was still blue.
