Default SRS light troubleshooting/fixing

my SRS light has been on for i don't even know how long. can someone or everyone start listing the causes and fixes? I was told awhile back that a cause would be removing the stock gauge assembly. So today, i finally got around to plugging the PCB from the stock assembly into the electrical connector (without the rest of the assembly because there's no space back there.) this didnt solve the light, so i'm wondering if the gauges themselves need to be plugged in as well (the screws screw into a circuit on the gauges so maybe the circuit would need to be completed for the light to go out?)

Start out by reading this:
reverse lights
My SRS light went out but I still don't have backup lights. I'm half way there.
Good luck!

Another cause is if the battery voltage drops below a certian point, I think. That's what the code was on my ES, I don't know what it is on my TT cuz I haven't taken it to my shop yet. I wish we could diagnose/fix the SRS issues the same way you can pull CEL codes on teh first-gen cars.
