Default passenger airbag question

how does the passenger airbag deploy?...through the center of the dash piece or does the dash piece pop off/fold down? I'm wanting to do a custom carbon fiber dash but still want the passenger airbag...

the cover folds up, there is a hinge on the top edge. in some wrecked 3000gt pictures you'll see that the cover hits the winshield hard enough to crack the glass.

You can remove the airbag from the dash, but you need to be careful just in the 'what if?' chance it happens to go off.

As far as taking it apart to mold pieces, I don't think that'd be possible.
