Post Interior Decorating...

Alrighty, so I've been wanting to recolour my interior. Well the plastic parts; Meter bezel, Radio Case, Ashtray, Shifter Surround, Door controls, etc... mainly because some of it is discoloured and looks rather awful.

Now I could repaint them myself, which I'm skeptical on how nice it would actually turn out, but it's easy, and less expensive.
Or I could just get a kit from persay WoodView as shown HERE. Now, I tried going through the forums to find someone who has used one of these kits and haven't found anything, so please, drop some input here.

Cheers.

if you end up painting the stuff yourself, be very careful about chosing the paint (type, brand). My friend rebuilt his dodge ram and he was doing a lot of interior painting, bought some amazing black interior paint at first (cant remember the brand though) and it stuck to plastic and everything perfectly.. resisted scratches, looked great and all that stuff. Then once he ran out, he had to buy different one from a nearby store and the one panel he painted with it looked ok, but a small bump/scratch and the paint was off.

Yea, definitely plan to do the research to find the right paint for the job.

I decided to *bump* this a little, because I came up with another question, and figured I'd attempt to nail two birds with one perfectly timed arrow.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to recolour the dash at all, specifically from the charcoal to true black?

yes that has been done. I can't think of the member's name, but I believe he used a paint made by SEM that worked very well..

I will look for the link..

i just spray painted my stuff and it doesnt look bad at all actually its just a gloss black because mine was faded as well but i wouldnt waste your money on a dash kit or wte but make sure you be very very patient when painting them though cuz if you rush the coats then it will get bubbles and runs and look like shit and which will make it harder to cover up the mistakes...

Yea definitely, patience is the key to a lot of car projects. You did the actual dash or just the plastic casings for the ashtray, stereos, etc...? I would love to see a picture of it for sure if you have any?

And how long would you say to wait between coats?

I did this to my car like 6 months ago.

I went to Advance, picked out a can of primer, a can of my favorite color and went to town.

This was the end result (with the glove box down to paint the locking mechanism). It matches my black/green 3SX boot combo.

Looks better than stock, I just got bored with all black.

I waited like 10-20 minutes between coats, probably about 3 on each piece.

i used krylon fusion satin black on all my plastic panels and it turned out amazing it isnt gloss so it didnt shine so bad but it was a nice deep black between gloss and flat. and the fusion paint is made for plastic it works awesome.

A picture does it no justice, but love it or hate it, it's up to you.
