Nice Fathers Day. Daughter took me out for breakfast early enough where I could get back home and finish the install.

First thing I did was try to figure out the best way to mount the Seagate 500G drive. I had an old plastic cd tower that worked perfectly! It fit perfect and allowed me to mount the drive suspended with springs with nippled foam underneath in case it ever 'bottomed' out. It also allowed me to mount a fan that blew the air down 'the channel' which worked great at blowing air on the motherboard also. Couldn't of asked for a better, more efficient setup....

Mounted the cd tower with the drive and fan next to the motherboard.

All done! View from the drivers side

and passenger side

and of course, the car

I threw a quick video together to show the software I using. It's RoadRunner with Digital FX 3.0. You can see it here.

Over all, I am extremely happy with the setup. Everything looks and works great!

Thanks for the comments everyone. I couldn't be happier with the setup; I use it everyday.

The MB is an ASRock 775i65G with OCZ 1GB PC3200 Premier Series Dual Channel memory. From a cold start, it will boot up and start Road Runner with DFX3.0 frontend in approximately 18 seconds. I used nLite to trim XP Pro way down. The power supply is an Opus 320 which I cannot praise enough. It is larger than other PS's but very, very stable and reliable.

I have the MB mounted on a large, plastic, kitchen cutting board with tabs on the end to secure it in place but not tightened. Just a little loose so if I hit a good bump, it can flex on the styrofoam underneath it. The MB is grounded to cut down on the alternator whine.

As far as software, I use RoadRunner which is great. You can read about it here. If you want to download it, go to FAQ section. The frontend I use is DFX 3.0. I tried 4.0 when it first came out and had problems. 3.0 is very stable for me.
You can read about it here
and download it here.

I use iGuidance for GPS and it integrates fantastic. I have it set so when iGuidance 'kicks on' to tell directions, the music or video volume is lowered 80% and the screen automatically goes to iGuidance and then bounces back after the turn is made. Very, very nice.

very nice bam bam. I remember back at ng '05 when you asked me about my 2-seater conversion, car-pc, and headunit in the vents. I glad you went through with yours, looks top notch. sadly mine was never finished and has all been removed, lol.

Wow a well deserved; to the top. Nice car too!!!

Great innovation and fabrication. The cup holder makes use of the wasted ashtray space.

Dude.. You should market your work. I'd buy it. I'm going to try to get a carpc up and running. I might want to try to stop by and check yours out when I'm up in Horseheads visiting family.
