I have a 97 SL and the sensor that determines whether the car's doors are open or not has stopped working. The pin that goes in and out still is functional, but somewhere along the lines either in the wire or somewhere else something is wrong. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never had one off on a 3S yet, but if its anything like the Kia Rio, it is just a bad connection at the switch. just unscrew it, clean up the contact points including screw and bolt it back up. i bet it will work for a long time to come

This, too, shall pass.

Mine stopped working intermittently. I'd open the door, but it would think the door was still closed.
I pulled off the rubber boot, unscrewed the two screws, disconnected the little switch, sprayed in some WD-40, put it all back together again, and it hasn't bothered me since. Ten minutes well spent.

The pin switches is plated to protect them from corrosion but at the point of contact the plating wears away over time and than it rusts. Just remove the pin switch and clean it up with a wire brush, sandpaper, etc. and than put a dab of white lithium grease on it or spray on WD-40. This should make it almost as good as new.
