Default What would i expect with these mods..

My car is a auto DOHC. my plan is to install a ebay intake, 3sx underdrive pulley, shift kit, 3500 high stall torque converter, 3sx downpipe, 3sx testpipe, and 2.5" single shot exhaust. I already have lightweight wheels, and plan to strip out some stuff and make it lighter, maybe even a lightwieght hood. I dont need it to be a super fast race car, i just want a fun car to cruise in. Its pretty slow right now, how much will i gain with these mods?

Don't waste your $$. Buy a vr4. NA = slow

Sorry, ive already thought of doing that and decided not to. My car is in pristine perfect condition(well just about), the engine and transmission has been rebuilt, 60K tune up, every non working part has been replaced, its 100% fully functional. The previous owner already lowered it, tinted it, and put some 18 inch wheels on it. I just cant see myself selling it, i like it to much. Id rather just mod it and make it have a little more go to it. I dont really care about street racing like most of you, i just want to have a little more fun driving.

Ya i wish it would of already had the 5speed in it, but i couldnt pass it up at the price i got it for. Ive heard doing the conversion is a huge pain in the ass. thats why I was wandering if a IPS shift kit and maybe a high stall torque converter would make it more enjoyable, especially beacuse that would be way cheaper.

If I were you, I wouldn't spend too much on mods for a N/A.

Leave it as your daily driver, keep it clean, and take care of it. These cars can be very reliable daily drivers if taken care of and there's no shame in driving around a sharp car for a DD even if it's not lightning fast.

If you want something fast, save up and get a VR4 or RT/TT in the future as your non daily driver (if you can afford it, or sell the N/A for the TT as your new DD). Even with all the basic bolt on mods you can perform you'll be lucky to get into the 14's.

You will get a dozen people telling you "Don't mod an N/A, that's stupid. Buy a VR4" although they do have a point.

N/A's, especially auto's, are not going to be fast unless you invest a lot of time, effort, and money into them that would be better spent on a better (faster) starting point platform, such as a VR4. If you throw $1000 into an N/A you'll be looking at a 15 second car still. On the other hand, if you throw $1000 into a VR4, you can be sitting in the 12's.

Still, there is nothing wrong with doing a couple things to your N/A like an exhaust and intake, just don't go balls out and spend a pretty penny on anything. That's just my opinion.

you guys are right, im just gonna forget about it and drive it for now. if after i spend all this money and time on it, to only be in the 15s and i wont even be putting down 200whp, then screw it. id rather sell it and buy a vr4 that may be in lesser condition. i just feel like a idiot right now driving around in a beatiful car that looks like its on steroids, but then it just putts around so slugishly

I feel you too I have a 94 SL 5sp and loved it but I finally realized that it wasn't ever gonna be as fast as I wanted it so I sold it and found a 91 TT Stealth.

NA's are not that bad man 14's are not hat hard to achieve in an NA.

If you get the high stall torque converter it's gonna suck being a daily driver but it will be alot quicker. You don't need a vr-4 to have a quick 3kgt..., obviously the same amount of money in a TT will make it faster than the same amount into the NA but just remember the DOHC is almost the same engine as the TT DOHC with a couple differences and 2 turbos and and AWD tranny.
Don't know how much you planned on spending on this car but with the shift kit, HSTC, and full exhaust you will notice a HUGE difference in performance and it will be alot quicker.
