Default tps sensor

i have been having this problem with my car for a while and i am pretty shure it is my tps sensor but i am just wanting to be right. first of all my car will idle at 200 rpms if i dont have the a/c or heat on, which then it will idle at or around 1,500 rpms. recently my tach needle acts crazy and is just jumping all over the place when i accelarate or it just sits at 0 rpms. i was also reading somthing in the forum about disconnecting your ecs or somthing like that to fix the problem but any ideas to tell me whats wrong would be great.

Does it actually idle at 200 RPMs or is that just what the tach says (IE does it stumble around and act like its idling low). Your tach issues to me are best explained by a faulty PTU, since this is what sends the signal to the tach.

Does the car act wierd or just the tach? When my CAS started shorting out the car would jump all over the blace and hte RPMs would bounce.

if you need a new tps sensor I have one from a 93 n/a

is the idle just wierd or is it missing too?

I think if it was the ptu, the spark would be more inconsistant making it sputter rather than just idle at an odd rpm.

If a TPS is good, what are the effects if you rotate the TPS?

if the TPS sensor is adjusted wrong, (as was on my car) the rpms go up to about 1500 and drop to like 700, climb to 1500 and drop, climb drop etc etc etc. Theres a TPS adjustment instruction sheet on the 3s wiki or stealth316.com

My car used to idle at 800-1000 on cold starts.

I thought it was the ISC so I replaced the ISC (tan looking thing connected to the TB) and now it idles 1400 and drops to 1000. It doesn't not GO up and DOWN and up and down...

The ISC count at warm idle on the datalogger is 34.

My TPS at idle is 19.5%

so your idle just is at a consistant 1000 rpm?

theres an idle adjustment screw on the throttle body, its recessed in the throttle body a bit, its a tan color and made of a really soft material so dont strip it out, but you might want to turn it in a litttttle bit.

I stripped one out on my old throttle body, frikkin crappy soft plastic or something.

i already tried adjusting the screw on the throttle body and it just went back to the crapy way it idles after like 5 min. but no what happens is my car actually will idle at 200 rpm and if i turn the heat or a/c on it goes up to like 1,500 rpms, which is not good for gas milage. it has had this problem for about 3 months now. i ushally have to turn the heat or a/c on just to get smooth shifts other wise the tach tries to drop so fast to 200 rpms that the shifts are jerky and somtimes my car will die at a stop b/c it idles so low. but recently when i was leaving my house and floored it the tach needle just started acting all crazy, not the engine, and now it just bounces around all over the place or just goes and sits at 0 rpms even though my car is still running so its kinda annoying not being able to tell wat rpms u r at. if it helps any i have a 99 base model that has 270,000 miles but the engine was rebuilt at 258,000
