Timing Belt

How much does a timing belt go for a 1994 mitsubishi 3000gt base model...went to advanced auto parts....its going to be 200$.....checking out andys auto sport and stuff i see them fairly cheaper...a lot cheaper but they are OEM and idk the part number for this car since ...there is no manual book with it....and would i have to replace the other belt if i plan on doing idk what the other belt is....sadly....

You definitely don't want to cheap out on the timing belt. If it fails on you, you won't be a happy camper.

For your 60k maintenance, I would suggest getting the full package (not just the timing belt). Here's a few links:

Rock auto. Agreed though about not going cheap on timing belt.

Many of the better brands belts are OK for these cars. you can find lots of threads with "acceptable" substitutes. Gates is one. I personally found a source for Continental that I think has superior quality. DONT go the kevlar route. Those belts really dont flex well and wear out all the other components. DONT skimp on the tensioner. Too many reports of failures of aftermarket ones.

Once upon a time aftermarket supplied quality as good as or better than OEM. Now its made as cheap as possible, ONLY. Quality is not a concern. Be careful what you buy.

you guys are effing great! right now i just need it road "worthy" since i have a feeling i'll be doing this all first time blind folded....until spring will be doing a rebuild but don't want something that's going to shit the bed on me....all thats left is this power steering line, and electrical work -.-''....anyone know what the white tail lights in the back are for?....lol yea i know i'm a newb

LOL great hahaha i feel like such a dunce they probably are....and they don't work xD w.e i'll have to re wire that and find diagrams/schematics....this is turning out to be hell one step after the other

Check your reverse sensor on the trans (if manual, not sure if there is one on the autos). Make sure its plugged in first.

ty much man yea....its an auto...i'm really not fond of driving a manual in the new england area....just lazy too ...regardless i have to figure out whatsup with all this wiring some things aren't working properly still thank you
