I'm sure you didn't search, and I don't feel like doing it for you, but I believe your ecs is gone (you need new struts)

It might not be that bad.....
When i was putting on my rear sway bar I had to disconnect the ECS at which time the sport/tour started to blink and consequently didn't work. You may just have a loose wire somewhere - start checking. On the other hand, there is a good chance your car took a crap on you; let's hope not though ![]()

Steps for your success:
Read the codes --> look up codes --> fix problem If its not something simple like frayed wires on top of the ecs struts then its most likely either a bad strut or a bad ecs computer. If your car is a first gen then I'd watch out for a bad ecs computer as it is linked to the ecu and can screw up TPS signals and even destroy your ecu. If you don't plan on doing anything about it then just unhook the ecs computer and you'll just be in sport mode. In the future use the search button, but seeing that this is probably your first post and only reason to come to this site I'll be nice. I'll predict that your next question will be how to read the codes, and for that I'll direct you to Stealth316.com. This is the bible of 3si and has many detailed writeups which come in extremely handy when working on these cars. Mike Last edited by mike92stealthtt : 09-16-2008 at 10:14 PM. |

I actually disconnected one of the electrical connectors to the struts when refilling my brake fluid or something and it took me a couple of days to figure out why my light was one. So ya like everyone else said check connections first
You can also easily remove the black strut caps and take a look at the wires to see if any are damaged. Hopefully it's one of these quick fix problems! |

Check all your connections, step one. Then pull the caps and check the actual wires to the struts. Pull the ECS computer, check it for leaking capacitors, and then fix them anyway by replacing with new ones(might as well, and do it to your ECU too, kill two birds with a handful of capacitors) Then, either buy new ECS shocks/struts, or just leave teh computer disconnected and deal with the sport-mode suspension.
For your future enjoyment, you cna click search and type in a form of your question, or go to stealth316.com and search there. I'm sure you'd find any information you need there. Also, check ebay for a CD version of our factory service manual; it'll come in handy more times than you can count.

Check the connections on your struts and at the ECS computer in the hatch on the right side behind a small panel. If you can't find any frayed wires then check for codes if you can. The ECS computer itself could be hosed. Either way I would disconnect the computer as it can mess up your ECU if it's the problem.
