Alrighty so I got this problem and I can't figure it out for the life of me.
When I am stopped at a light/stopsign/parking after runing the car I have this really light grey-ish smoke comming from the engine bay it comes out on the driver side of the car. I pop the hood and the smoke clears, it doesn't smell like anything I've smelt before. It just smells like heat (if that makes sense). I thought it might be the valve cover gaskets but wouldn't it smell like oil leaking and burning? Its a very LIGHT smoke that comes out and its hard to see unless you angle it just right. Anyone know what could possibly be wrong here? 166k miles dodge stealth (SOHC) The 120k was done at 155k miles.

Drivers side....things to consider:
Belts - worn/rubbing on "something" Oil Cap - loose allowing oil to flow down onto manifold.... Oil Cooler - leaking Water Pump - leaking, getting on belts (this one is BAD...will eventually stretch the timing belt and cause MAJOR damage). I'm sure others will have some ideas.... Bob.

Could it be the valve cover gasket? I know my back one is probably shot and i know its leaking oil.... There is a deffinate smell to the smoke but its something I havn't smelled before...
I know its not the water pump, oil cooler, belts, and oil cap... I had all those replaced and the oil cap is down TIGHT. I've already snapped my timing belt once ![]() |
