Id say get a TT, youll like the NA for a while but after some time ( especially spending time on this board), youll most likely regret not getting the TT....[/quote]

thats all too tru, i love my SL to death, but if you ever talked to one of my friends or any 3SNY guy who knows me, they would tell you that all i say is i wish i had a VR4, its almost like driving a whole different car, but insurance wouldnt allow a VR4 so were just gonna have to wait 4 years and well see what happens. O BTW i wouldnt trade my car for the world.

If you find the right car you'll be fine with a VR4. Don't let people scare you too much about reliability. Like others have said, ANY abused car will need repair so you might as well just go with the better of the two because you're taking chances either way.

I myself found a VR4 with a new engine (along with everything else that goes with it, timing belt most notably since it's expensive to replace) and the transfer case recall was done along with a lot of other preventative maintenance. You just have to find the right one, and you'll be fine.

Yeah the hardest part is being patient, because you want the car now now now!!!!

Its tough, but dont rush into a decision with buying one, make sure its the right one for you

I agree entirely!

After my car got a little too dangerous to drive (I almost got t-boned by a cop... THAT was an interesting night) I bummed my Mom's car for 3 months while I hunted down the right car for me...

A little advice...

1. NEVER listen to the sales guy.

2. If you have a friend who knows more than you 'bout cars... take 'em along.

3. Do NOT get worn down by the hunt... I came within a hair's breadth of buying two REAL bad ideas

1. was in the form of a rather battered, but turbo'd Eclipse. Salesman swore they'd get rid of the ricer front end kit, and clean up the interior before I bought it, but all in all, I'm glad I waited.

2. I almost bought a Subaru SVX (rare and it's turbo/AWD)... with 160K on the motor... Salesman pissed me off to look at him (which usually takes a bit of doing, I tend to try to like everyone)... took it to a mechanic to check out, he just started laughing and walked away... I kind of got the hint and took it back to the dealership (got it for a day to check out).

Eventually, the "friend who knew more about cars than me" helped me hunt down my 3kgt about 70 miles away in Glendale...

The whole ordeal left me tired, but when I finally signed the papers, shook the guy's hand and got behind the wheel of my new (well, new to me) car, I rolled off into the sunset one happy guy!

All very good advice! I don't care if you're related to him, the salesman is not your friend. He wants to sell the car and he WILL lie to do it. I'd much rather buy from a private party. The average guy is not as adept at misdirection and misinformation.

As I stated before, my wife and I had great luck with our cars, but a lot of research and looking went into the buying decision. Look at as many cars as you can. The good ones will stand out.

This is an easy answer. Buy a VR-4. Like everyone else is saying, just be patient. You might have to test drive a ton of lemons before you find a nice one in good shape. When buying one check EVERY inch of the car inside and out for rust, chips, bent frame, anything that doesnt look normal. Better yet, find a friend or someone that currently owns a 3000GT and take them with you to look at the car, they will know right when something doesnt look right. I bought my SL 2 years ago and every day i wish i had those twin turbos to show off. It really sucks when a turbo supra, eclipse, or 3000GT comes up next to you; gets the BOV going, and all you can do is give them a thumbs up. Please get a VR-4...I wish i would have.

You don't count. SL-T is in a class by itself.

Although Hen04, if you're willing to dump the level of cash IPO has, I doubt you'll regret that, either.

If you haven't already, you NEED to test drive both cars. There is a major difference in high rpm power. I own both.
