DO you have a crank pulley holder tool?
Probably not get a 2x6 and 2 bolts. Put the bolts in the holes and get the breaker bar on the nut have a friend hold the "tool" and pull. Make your self a pulley holder and get that damn thing off with the help of a friend. |

Well if the valves are bent i might as well source a better motor. This one has over 200,000 on it and it would suck to put fresh heads on it and watch the low end grenade. Problem is i got about 700 bucks to throw at it so i might be sol!
Fuck the head gasket kit alone with everything need gasket wise is like 300 bucks! Where is a good source for engines! Last edited by yetterben : 07-10-2008 at 02:16 PM. |

And man those end caps on the cams can be a bitch hope i didnt tweak anything on the cam. just stuck a small screw driver down there and wiggled a bit and they popped off. ( i mean in the bolt hole not as far down as the dowel either) Dunno how easy it is to warp a cam they all still look straight lol. just had to use a little persuasion lol

Cam's are strong, your fine if you untorqued properly. The proper way to remove the caps is to use the bolts as handles sticking out the top and wiggle the cap loose but I'm sure your method was fine.
I am not too sure what the leak down numbers are (that would be in a shop manual ) but your valves should not leak any air at all. I think it might be anything more than 10% leakage at 100psi is too much but I'm not 100% sure. |

i removed the cams as follows. I loosed the bolt in this order. both outer caps i just broke them loose. then both inner and then the center. then i went around and took out all the bolts. i just did it enough to here the pop then moved to the next! i did like you said outer to inner!
