SOCK POWER!
|
Hey guys,
I've got what may be a dumb question to some, but I'll ask it anyway. what would installing a SAFC (either II or NEO) on my '98 SOHC do for me? I know most people will say.. its not worth it.. go VR4 etc etc... but will It allow me to better control the A/F ratio across my RPM range to optimize performance? From what I read it will do this, as well as better allowing me to monitor other engine info, I just want to see what people with more knowledge/exp have to say. keep in mind I've got full exhaust, gutted pre-cats, planning on going to a DOHC TB soon w/plenum Port, as well as Heads and Cams in the future. Planning on staying N/A. |

IMO SAFC on SOHC is like 24" dubz on Yaris. Whatever you'd be able to gain will be minimal if any.

Without mods you will see little if any power gains, IMO it's not worth it unless you have the car modded pretty heavily. If you already have one though and you know how to install it, go for it, if not, I wouldn't bother.

well honestly other then performance you could think economy wise. Using an AFC you would be able to lean the car out while cruising and manage an A/F ratio closer to 16:1 instead of 14.7:1 and probably pick up on highway 2 MPG. Since you aren't FI and aren't pressing any crazy numbers you could probably manage that pretty easily.

It will do nothing, unless you are flowing more air with real power mods. As in, built heads, built block, high compression, etc whatever, and you need to add fuel. You won’t ever need to add fuel on n/a’s, unless stated above. Save your money, and only buy it if your going to forced induction.
