I don't think the driver's side window would have a lock, does it?

I would've said that, but he mentioned that the power seat isn't working either. Granted, they are rather unrelated, but maybe there's a short in one of the wires going to either door switch.

Are my windows just off track or are the motors toast?
I got the same problem as you. The windows move up and down very slow and the passenger side strip flips out which i want to get fixed ASAP.

How much would it cost to get my windows and the strip fixed at a shop? NYC

The fuses were fine, took door panel off door and tried hot wiring to make the window go up, but there was no power so didn't work. I have decided that it is a wiring problem, between the door and the power supply. I did get the window back up by connecting a battery charger to the control. If any one knows anything about the wiring and electrical issues please help. I have no idea were to start about fixing this. Right now I think taking it to the dealer is my only choice.

Well, this is ghetto, but....

You know the wire you hooked the battery charger up to? Well, just run a new wire from any fused accessory power line to that. Boom, your window works. That should keep you running until you have the time to figure out what is really wrong.

Hey rayman, did you get this figured out?? I've got the same problem: power windows and power seats don't work, fuse 9 (pink 30a) under the hood is blown and everytime I replace it, it blows right away without me even touching the window or power seat switches. If you or anyone else has seen anything like this please let me know, I too have a 1997 SL and I am supposed to be driving across the country (from Baltimore to Calgary, Canada) this Saterday...ANY HELP APPRECITED!!

Thanks,
Jack

in most cars the drivers side switch supplies the power to the passenger side switch. If the drivers side goes out then they both wont work.

hope it helps....

Yea, I believe this is true, as both of the switches will not work (windows can't go up or down). Does anyone know what would cause the fuse to blow right away?

I have gone through 3-4 30a fuses already. I put in a new fuse with the car off, with the batter unhooked, with the car running and the fuse would blow immediately after starting. The time i had my car running and I put in the new fuse, I saw the fuse 'melt' as there were some sparks and the fuse light up orange.

I searched and could find no answers, but found other people who have had the same problem (no power windows or seats)...HELP!

thanks to chally and stealthee i fixed mine.
1. window not going up or down, check to see if you have power and ground coming out of the connector, then check your contacts, to check your contacts all you do is take the switch appart and clean the 4 copper tabs.

2. when the window is going down it sucks in your weather stripping, replace the weather stripping, (this is currently happening to me, but im pretty sure some super glue will hold, i'm trying it out when i get my car back, i will post results if anyone is interested)

3. window goes down slowly or up, it probably means your cables are binding up due to the pos plastic they used on the regulators, they have these plastic tab and a plastic pulley on this regulator the shit bends and cracks over the years, makes me wonder why 3sx did not make a hard metal replica of this piece. anyway if it acts like its going pretty slow it means is wearing down to the point where it will stop working.

4. ebay, for the love of god if you see somebody selling a 40 dollar window regulator its going to fail on you. i purchased one off the window reg guy on ebay and he didnt even tell me that pos pulley was bent !

5. if anyone needs help installing a window reg and you live near, give me a call and a few bones and i can do it for you or if you just need tips, give me a call. l8r.
