Mitsubishi Newb BOV Question...Go easy LOL

So I see these Ebay ads for aftermarket BOV's to go on VR4's and they look like they are adjustable (boost wise)...I have a few questions...
1. Does my car not already have a factory stock BOV (I've never heard any pressure release sound on my 92 VR4 ...?)
2. What is the standard boost from the factory for the stock engine?
3. Is it advisable or ok to use more boost from a device like those on Ebay?

Fill me in please and thanks!
M

The reason ur not hearing the Whoosh of your factory bov is b/c it's recirculated... and well... factory... think factory exhaust vs 3in after market sound difference...

It isn't a bad idea to replace your BOV... however... don't go ebay a knock off part... get something quality... several companies around this site have very inexpensive options... and if you want to avoid any possible hessitation problems recirculate it... but if you want the attention getter then run an open atmospheric.

check out 3sx's greddy rs setup... and the recirc adapter for it as well as the flange adapter... or open atmosphere... hks ssq or bust.

Blow off valves dont control boost though. They reference vacuum for when to "blow off." A boost controller does that. Search "free boost mod" and you will understand a little bit more about that.

Also, for the new guys......this is the 3S Quote:

"Pick 2
1) Fast
2) Reliable
3) Cheap"

There are VERY FEW cheap knockoff parts which I would actually buy. 1 is the Y pipe.

get a boost controller and a real boost guage. My stock bov sounded really nice and loud on my car at 12 pounds or so. Stock boost i believe is 8 psi. The recirc bovs will sound nice and wont be too loud.

I ran a Turbo XS open atmosphere on my 92 VR4 and I never had the hessitation problems but this is just my personal experience with it cause one of my friends put the same BOV on his stealth and it would die and spit and sputter if he jumped out of the throttle to fast. Then he put a recirculator kit on it and it was fine. I guess it's just hit and miss. I like mine and he's running a Greddy now and loves it so i guess it's just a matter of what you and/or your car likes, haha.
