Thank you guys! Ya'll are so helpful...I checked out the tires...all are perfectly fine...not cracked or weathered or flat...lol...and they all looked aligned to me. I really doubt that he winterized the car though...I mean, it's just sitting in his back yard under a shed w/o a car cover...and there was a tiny bit of snow piled on the hood...all the snow has since melted so I'll go take a closer look at it this weekend...the paint is perfect...all nice n' shiny...not a dent in the body at all and not a stain on the carpet...I got in it and it smelled like new. The driver seat isn't even worn. I know, I know, ya can't just go off looks but I'm just impressed that it is cosmetically looking so good. I feel like if it sits another 6 months that it wouldn't be a good idea to buy it, but it's a rare find...I mean, how often do you find a cosmetically mint Turbo sitting under a shed in someones backyard? lol... I have the resources here to fix it but I'm just worried it will turn into some massive project...lol. I'll go take a look at it this weekend and report my findings to you guys...thank you!

Also, one more question...I can't find this anywhere...can someone explain to me the different "gens"...like, is a 1991 stealth a 1st gen? What age cars are the different gens? For example, are all stealths from 1991-1993 1st gens? I see this all in the forum and I just wanna finally understand it...lol...thank you!

Sure no problem. "Gens" means like the time the car was produced and the differecences. Like say 1st gen is pop ups(91-93) 2nd gen didn't have any pop ups and the model is slightly different in the fascial of the front, 3rd gen is 99 because it's the only gen with the particular style of lights and some new features also. So gens is basically the period of a car, when changed gens is because it was modified ex front lights, drivetrain, etc. That's about how simeple i can put it without getting messy.

lol, it was close. I do realize that is a question that has been asked a large number of times though (so I added it - thanks for the suggestion FemTex!)
Its hard to give a straight answer on it though, some people consider the 98-99 to be the third gens (as opposed to just 99's). Then again, some say that 94-99 counts as second gens since not too many things were changed on it. When it comes to the final FAQ Answer, I'll toss that information in there since it seems to vary from person to person on where one gen actually ends and another one starts. ![]() |

i'll stick with 91-91 1st gen
94-96 2nd gen 97-99 3rd gen here's my reason why. not 100% sure on all of this, though. 1st gens had pop up lights, 5-speed manuals, more testerossa-like vents in the front bumper and side skirts (3k's), steering wheel mounted radio controls, active air dams, etc. the ES trim was only made 91-93. the base stealth (91-96) was an sohc engine. both ES and base had trim on the sides of the car. r/t // tt had side vents, and vented b-pillars. 2nd gen. they did away with some features from the first gens. active air dams, i believe, kept the active aero spoiler. projector lights, instead of popups (94-98 were the same). HOWEVER, the light pods vary somewhat between all trim models and between generations. http://www.3sxperformance.com/faq/99/index.asp keep this in mind if/when you want to make changes to this area. manuals are now 6-speed, side vents are gone on the stealths, 96's have an improved boomerang spoiler. also, only 95/96 are the only years the spyder is made. overall look of both 3k and stealth is smoother, and has less trim. 3rd gen. stealth is no longer made. base 3kgt is now an sohc, not dohc. new front bumper, hoop spoilers, got rid of active aero, no more all-wheel steering, charcoal-grey interiors are gone. minor changes for 99 models, front bumper, no climate control, modified 2nd gen stealth lights, vr4 combat wing, sail panels, rear garnish. some may argue that the 99's should be considered a seperate generation, and that 94-98 was 2nd gen, but i disagree. an 86 corvette or a 96 corvette, they're both c4's, even though they look subtly cosmetically different. after 96, the stealth was no more, and the base 3k became sohc. THAT'S a change. -thadd. |
