Default New Owner F.A.Q. Development Thread

The Issue...
One of the common complaints here on 3si is how we fail to welcome new users and new owners to the board. In an effort to strengthen the community and make 3si a more user-friendly place, I wanted to take the initiative to advance this section.

One thing that some people fail to realize is that new members are a very valuable part of this community - for the sole reason that as time passes, old members sell their cars and it is these new members that help keep this board flowing for years to come. Many of these new users bring new ideas and personality to this board, and we should welcome that with arms wide open if we wish to continue to expand.

Some may be tired of hearing the same questions asked over and over again (one of the main reasons that old members discredit what new members have to say), but the truth remains that at some point in our lives we were once in that same position: not knowing the true difference between the trim models, not sure what the common problems are with these cars, etc. This is what I hope we can all chip in to change, however.

The Solution...
This thread is intended for us members to work together and put together a Frequently Asked Question sticky that is dedicated to New Owners. One easy-to-find thread that will cover nearly everything that is repeatedly asked in this section.

Now, I can sit down and dig up each question and write detailed responses to them myself - but I figured we'd make this a community effort to show all of these new owners how willing we truly are that they are now part of our community. Below is a list of "new owner" commonly asked questions that I can think of, and if you have a moment I encourage you to select one and write a detailed response to it. Consider this the LAST time that we'll ever have to write the answer to these questions (as they will be referred to by very many different new owners multiple times), so - by all means - please take the time to answer it thoroughly.

By doing this, we will be clearing this section up tremendously. We will save ourselves the frustrations of seeing the same questions over and over again, and it will save the new owners the frustration of trying to come up with an answer on their own. These New Owner FAQ's will help educate, and by educating we could only hope that it will allow the New Owners to further involve themselves on the board here to take part in advancing the wonderful 3000GT/Stealth platform.

As these questions are being answered and new questions are being suggested, I will be keeping this thread clean and organized. Once we have everything answered, we will go through and critique them and add any info that was left out. In the end, we will have a very easy to follow informational sticky in this section that we can all take pride in having part in.

Thank you, in advance, to anyone that contributes to building this new FAQ.

-I'd like to modify my car - what are some websites/stores that sell parts for our cars that I should purchase from?

There are many sites in which you can purchase unique products made specifically for our platform. Some of these can include
  • Midnight-Haze Shaun(Stealthify) is the owner, very user friendly site, great service and the owner is just cool
  • Import Power Online Chris(IPO) Is the owner, great customer service, cool products and shipping is free. Well it's included in the price but still the prices are very reasonable.
  • MVP Motorsports Very nice site, it's hard to get lost because of the simplicity of the site which is very good Great service, i've never heard a compaint about em and they have good prices.
  • 3sx Performance Steve owns the company I believe. Very very awesome company, great prices and great customer service, you may even get a lil "toy" with your order. And Steve's car is just beautilful
  • Ripp Modifications A really nice company that is now dedicating some of their work onto our platform! They have Supercharger kits for the SOHC and now almost completing the kit for us DOHC guys, Here's the thread about the kit if you want to find out a little more info Ripp's Thread
  • Mobo Leathers Great site dedicated to our cars, they have alot of leather goodies for our interiors!
  • Tire Rack Awesome site that has alot of goodies including brake pads, wheels, and lots of tires. Great service and they even have one of their sale's people here, His name is Alex and you can find him in This section of the forums.
  • GT PRO Home of some very nice and fast 3s's, they do really great work, reasonable prices for what your getting and good customer service.
  • Dynamic Racing Awesome company that's very well into our cars, great customer service and sweet prices And their products have been used in many record breaking stealths and 3000gt's.
  • 3kgt Concepts 3kgt concept is one of the best companys for our interiors, the owner of the site Kyle(Smoking-vr4) is a really cool guy. He's straight up, he gives you the price and tell's you when it's ready and getting shipped and he's always making one of a kind products for our interiors and they look cool too!
  • Ty Speed Performance First time i've heard of this company but that's just me, someone please chime in. They look like a good company dedicated to our platform and not too shabby prices either!
  • Horsepower Freaks This company is great, they have alot of excellent products that go from superchargers to Bovs. They get freaky when it comes to power. I've heard alot of good things about them and their service.
  • Go Fast Goodies Owned by a member known as Dave Best, and his name doesn't lie! He is literally one if not the best polisher/detailer for our cars. His products are hand made and out of this world! His prices are superb, I give props for doing such awesome work for us.
  • 3kgt Motorsports Big company owned by Rasheed. They have alot of godd products for our cars and good prices. They even have specialty kits. Well their site is down and i've heard that they have scammed or cheated some members. Their still part of the tuners that's why i placed them on the list but refrain from ordering anything until the current issues are solved, plus their site is down so you can't order anything neways. Thanks Morph for the info!
  • DN Performance Really nice site. Has some cool products and at cool prices. Site is very user friendly.
  • eK2 Development Site is under development. Bob K the owner is a fantastic guy, he really works hard to produce new products for us, and at sweet prices! He's very dedicated to his work and always completes what he starts. Mad props for ya Bob.
  • Import Precision This company amazes me at what they do. They created the ONLY Lambo kit for our doors that i've witnessed! They are truly unique and their lambo kit is amazing. The prices aren't too shabby either.
  • Speed Factor This site is owned by the famous Ty. Ty is a really cool person, he will talk with you straight up and do all that's needed. He will tell you when it's coming and he never bullshits. Speed Factor has alot of great products and cool prices and can't forget the service either!
  • Pampena Motorsports This company is notorious for it's tuning and work on our cars. Ray Pampena does some great work, mad props for you man. Keep up the excellent work.
  • Ultimate Performance ACC Chris(SUPERMAC) owns the company. Chris does some superb work for the interiors of our cars also. He has one killer looking stealth too
  • Maximal Performance Last but not least a great company run by Terry. Terry is just awesome, he runs the company by himself and never fails to amaze me. He does great work and really sweet prices too! I even bought my testpipe from em ^_^ and it got here in two days and with gaskets and everything for only 40 bucks shipped! Great job Terry, keep up the good work.

Those are some of the many sites that contribute and our dedicated to our platform. There's a good bunch of other sites but I don't have anymore time to finish posting them because im at school and time is limited. So if anybody want's to contribute they very well can.

P.S. If you want to go to the page where it shows most of the tuners or shops then go Here and click on "Tuners" and it will take you to the page and you can check them out yourself!

Thank you man That was VERY well explained, and was exactly the type of reply I was hoping for.

I have edited my original post with a link to your posted information, and anyone is welcome to add to that list as we add Answer #2, Answer #3, etc. Once this thread is complete, we'll combine all of the answers into one very detailed answer for the final New Owner FAQ sticky.

I could see new owners and even current owners benefiting from your responses for years to come. Everyone that helps out in this thread will be making a large difference to this community.

- What is the SRS light and why is it always on?

SRS stands for supplimental restraint system, or more simply, the air bag(s). Whenever there is something wrong with the air bag circuitry, this light goes off. According to the stealerships, you must take it to them immediately to be diagnosed

There might be a little more that could be added to that, but I definately get at least partial credit there

-What is the difference between the Stealth and 3000gt?
The Stealth is the American cousin to the 3000gt. THe 3000gt was imported by the Chrysler Corp. and repackaged under the Stealth name. They differ only cosmetically, (and a few options such as Active Aero for the Mitsus) THe power ratings are the same for all the corresponding models (ES/Base, RT/SL, RTTT/VR4) I'm sure there is more to this if someone wants to add...

The ES isn't a base. The base stealth is SOHC. The ES is very similar to the SL and the RT except a few things here and there, cosmetically and interior wise but still isn't considered as a base stealth. Come on your offending me here
