The Issue...
One of the common complaints here on 3si is how we fail to welcome new users and new owners to the board. In an effort to strengthen the community and make 3si a more user-friendly place, I wanted to take the initiative to advance this section. One thing that some people fail to realize is that new members are a very valuable part of this community - for the sole reason that as time passes, old members sell their cars and it is these new members that help keep this board flowing for years to come. Many of these new users bring new ideas and personality to this board, and we should welcome that with arms wide open if we wish to continue to expand. Some may be tired of hearing the same questions asked over and over again (one of the main reasons that old members discredit what new members have to say), but the truth remains that at some point in our lives we were once in that same position: not knowing the true difference between the trim models, not sure what the common problems are with these cars, etc. This is what I hope we can all chip in to change, however. The Solution... This thread is intended for us members to work together and put together a Frequently Asked Question sticky that is dedicated to New Owners. One easy-to-find thread that will cover nearly everything that is repeatedly asked in this section. Now, I can sit down and dig up each question and write detailed responses to them myself - but I figured we'd make this a community effort to show all of these new owners how willing we truly are that they are now part of our community. Below is a list of "new owner" commonly asked questions that I can think of, and if you have a moment I encourage you to select one and write a detailed response to it. Consider this the LAST time that we'll ever have to write the answer to these questions (as they will be referred to by very many different new owners multiple times), so - by all means - please take the time to answer it thoroughly. ![]() By doing this, we will be clearing this section up tremendously. We will save ourselves the frustrations of seeing the same questions over and over again, and it will save the new owners the frustration of trying to come up with an answer on their own. These New Owner FAQ's will help educate, and by educating we could only hope that it will allow the New Owners to further involve themselves on the board here to take part in advancing the wonderful 3000GT/Stealth platform. ![]() As these questions are being answered and new questions are being suggested, I will be keeping this thread clean and organized. Once we have everything answered, we will go through and critique them and add any info that was left out. In the end, we will have a very easy to follow informational sticky in this section that we can all take pride in having part in. ![]() Thank you, in advance, to anyone that contributes to building this new FAQ. 3S FAQ-
Now, lets have at it. Lets make 3si a better place, starting one section at a time. ![]() Last edited by stealthify : 05-20-2005 at 03:20 AM. |

-I'd like to modify my car - what are some websites/stores that sell parts for our cars that I should purchase from?
There are many sites in which you can purchase unique products made specifically for our platform. Some of these can include
Those are some of the many sites that contribute and our dedicated to our platform. There's a good bunch of other sites but I don't have anymore time to finish posting them because im at school and time is limited. So if anybody want's to contribute they very well can. P.S. If you want to go to the page where it shows most of the tuners or shops then go Here and click on "Tuners" and it will take you to the page and you can check them out yourself! Thank you man
That was VERY well explained, and was exactly the type of reply I was hoping for.I have edited my original post with a link to your posted information, and anyone is welcome to add to that list as we add Answer #2, Answer #3, etc. Once this thread is complete, we'll combine all of the answers into one very detailed answer for the final New Owner FAQ sticky. I could see new owners and even current owners benefiting from your responses for years to come. Everyone that helps out in this thread will be making a large difference to this community. ![]() |

- What is the SRS light and why is it always on?
SRS stands for supplimental restraint system, or more simply, the air bag(s). Whenever there is something wrong with the air bag circuitry, this light goes off. According to the stealerships, you must take it to them immediately to be diagnosed There might be a little more that could be added to that, but I definately get at least partial credit there ![]()

-What is the difference between the Stealth and 3000gt?
The Stealth is the American cousin to the 3000gt. THe 3000gt was imported by the Chrysler Corp. and repackaged under the Stealth name. They differ only cosmetically, (and a few options such as Active Aero for the Mitsus) THe power ratings are the same for all the corresponding models (ES/Base, RT/SL, RTTT/VR4) I'm sure there is more to this if someone wants to add...

The ES isn't a base. The base stealth is SOHC. The ES is very similar to the SL and the RT except a few things here and there, cosmetically and interior wise but still isn't considered as a base stealth. Come on your offending me here
