I have done some searching around but could not find what im looking for. Most VR4s i see for sale now have very high mileage and they still are priced high so I assume that they are a decent car even with high mileage. How are the turbos after that many mileage?
The reason im asking is im looking to buy a '95 vr4 with 123k miles its priced just under 7k. It has had 5 owners?! Looks to be in excellent shape. I just wanted an input on what people think and if it might be a reliable? good choice? It is on autotrader the zip code 74137. If you good I would appreciate your help. Thank you. |

Yeah I have seen it its totaly stock it seems to run fine I plan to test drive it tomorrow. No wrecks just a few minor interior imperfections. It just seems so nice. It is at a dealer so im not sure about the tune up history. I might get it checked out at a dealer.

123k isnt really a big deal for the turbos if it hasnt been ran like a race car. I payed 8500 for my TT with 41,500 miles

thanks everyone for your help. I will see if it had the tune up. It is a 1995 but should 5 owners and 3 auction sales worry me? and i need my Honda Prelude gone so hopefully someone buys that soon so I might be able to get this VR4.

That's not a bad price, but at 123k it's almost guaranteed to need the 120k done. The 120k will run you well over $1000 at a dealer or shop; nobody drops that coin and then sells the car a few months later! And if it needs tires, tires and alignment are gonna be around $600 too. Might also be due for a new clutch- another $700 or $800 for OEM at the dealer, or at a shop. I don't want to scare you off, but like you said it's been in a lot of hands so likely nobody gave it any love and you might have to start if you get it.
So check those out- it's negotiating room with the dealer. If you like the car and get it, you should plan on another $1500 to do the 120k and any other misc stuff that is found, especially if this is going to be your only car. Make sure that it's shifting smoothly, and that it brakes smoothly when you step on the pedal. Good luck!

Add at least $325 for the front struts - (or $1000 for all 4 struts if you intend to "lower" the car with new springs :-) BTW search on the board for Bilstein struts. |
