Could this contribute to engine ticking?
This morning when leaving from work it was ticking loud. My carpooler buddy said he could hear it from the main doors of the building, about 60 yards away! This afternoon I was doing more research concerning ticking. Went out and started the 3kGT. There was ticking. Let it warm up for five minutes. Turn off, start back up, and take a look under the hood. Ticking still, but I found that the larger connector to the MVIC was unplugged? Turn off engine, reconnect, restart. Engine sounds quieter now? Just normal engine running noise no ticking at all. Found out the MVIC operates the intake plates? Could this having been unplugged cause ticking as the engine was not operating correctly from the start? I have had this car for about four months but never had any issues with the car running other than loud ticking (which I have read is pretty common). |

VICS has nothing to do with the engine ticking. It only operates "flaps" in the intake plenum.
The ticking is lifter tick. Change your oil.
