I want to get the Pioneer TS-A1671R or Pioneer TS-A1672R but crutchfield says the tweeter sticks out too much and hits the grill. I want this for my front. For the back im getting Pioneer TS-A6962R and for the h/u im getting the Pioneer DEH-2000MP.
Has anybody modified their front door to fit speakers in? I need some ideas on what I can do. And what can you say about my setup. Will I be satisfied with my bass and sound clarity? Thanks |

You can remove the inside spider which is right behind the grill for a little more room but I'm not sure if it'll fit, I imagine it would.
Also, no offense, but those are both poor speaker choices especially if your looking for bass. What do you consider adequate bass? What do you mean by clarity, those are both very vague questions... Speaking in generalities I'm going to say no, you will not be happy with those speakers in the doors. If you want bass, buy at least the DEH-3000MP along with a sub woofer and amp. Your stock speakers, as long as there not blown, aren't actually that bad. Stick a capacitor on the speakers in the dash as a 1st order crossover to be safe and you'll have what I think your looking for. Good luck...

I replaced my door speakers with some red Sony Xplods, and I wanted them to stick out b/c my car is red. I made some custom inserts to replace my original speaker grilles, and now I can see my speakers, and they sound great too. Not sure if this sounds like a solution for you, but I will post pics if you want to see how it turned out.

Just about any 6 1/2 component will fit just fine. Just screw tightly into the composite housing. It will hold tightly.
if you have to, dremel the back out a little for the magnet to fit. I'm using Alpine Type R, and they are pretty beastly but they fit just fine. As for tweeters, take your grill out, and find somewhere to mount it tightly. I mounted mine directly to the grill and existing brackets. Pioneer head units are nice, but their speakers are poor quality. I would highly advise reading the crutchfield reviews. Edit: I see your just trying to put 2 ways in. You should look into components. You will be much happier with the quality. You would probably be happy with an amplified Type S set up. I installed that in my girlfriends mercedes along with a pioneer 6900ub, powered with a sony 600w 4channel amp, and they sound very nice and was a relatively cheap setup.

I'm sure getting them to fit would be easy. Crutchfield is full of crap most of the time, they told me that my Kappa Perfects wouldn't fit either (too deep they said).

Crutchfield is one of the most knowledgeable vendors ive dealt with. Their reps know what they are talking about as far as getting the best sound and the most quality products. Give them a little respect. |

The TS-A1672R will fit. I know this. I've done it. No modification necc and it is a very good replacement for the fronts.

No mods necc. It goes as fast as the line of Hybrids and SmartCars in front of me in the fast lane. |
