Sorry about asking this question, I have in the past but I went to a mechanic the other day and I showed him what I wanted fixed, he says this is not a lifter tick this is what my engine sounds like with no Cat.
So just to make sure I made a new video capturing the sound of what he says is because I have a straight pipe, I have nothing but a pipe to the mufflers. I know you guys know your stuff and every other video is a car sitting idle with a video on its engine but this is me actually driving the car past the camera, my car only slightly ticks when idling but violently when driving especially when slowing down in gear. You don't hear anything until I pass the camera, if you listen you can hear a quick slapping or high pitched ticking, I tried my best to make the sound with such a small area, its really loud while going faster. Video 1 Video 2 (second video is not a good, mostly higher RPM causes the ticking, 3000 and above.) Thanks for the help, if I can confirm this I am gonna fix it right away. and I know it illegal to have no cat ![]() |

That is an exhaust leak...sounds like a much quieter version of my car.

sometimes I do tick while Idle, but it goes away and comes back, sometimes is gone for a long time then comes back and then goes away again.
But, it does not tick like the video, I will get a video of me idle and post that too. but, I had a friend put on the 2.5" pipe but the pipe is put on after the flex, its a stock Flex and stock up to the engine. What does it take to find a exhaust leak ? I am a little afraid of the price I would pay for it, I hate that sound, especially when I am driving in 3rd of 4th and then floor it then a crazy slapping/ticking sound comes out from the back of the car, and its loud enough to hear it over my engine with the windows closed. My car is very loud, becasue I have nothing to silence it, but what I hate is the sound as I am passing the camera and on, slapping/ticking.....very embarrassing |

I was thinking of using my brother in laws, smoke machine, its a have fun toy but if I shove it in the tail pipe maybe I can find the leak ?
But yeah, thanks guys! that might of saved me work that didn't need to be done, I'll schedule a mechanic to check for leaks, but first I will try to find it myself. edit. oh, it doesn't make that sound unless its got load, like actual driving other then idle but I will try anyway. |

I have a friend who knows a lot about Mustangs
, and he said I should do a compression test. I let him drive my car and he said it had no power for 200+ HP, like none at all, I wouldn't notice that cause I used to drive a Cavalier, worst cause scenario would the ticking come from a burnt valve ? he suggests I have that.for a RT non Turbo should it really have a lot more power then a 2002 Caviler cause its not that much of a difference to me, and especially when i do 100 kph/h or more I will gradually gain speed but not quickly, 5th gear is pretty slow but I can gradually get it past 200kph/h after awhile. |
