Mitsubishi Injector Question

Okay I just replaced all the plugs and wires, cleaned the IAC and ISC, pulled the ECU and checked for leaking caps... still having idle problems but I located a broken injector today, trying to examine engine at idle i saw the fuel leak and the broken injector body.
So, I am going to replace the injector but my question is this:
Should I choose now to upgrade the injectors from stock at all?
My motor is bone stock and I'm not necessarily thinking like a performance upgrade but is there an injector on the market you guys can recommend? I am thinking of just replacing all injectors at this point and I'm looking for a little input. I don't want to go and buy some crap injectors at Autozone only to find I shouldn't be using that one at all... you guys know better than me I am certain so I appreciate your comments.

in my opinion, i wouldn't upgrade them, but it never hurt anyone to clean them up, and maybe get them flow tested to make sure they are healthy.

but, if you aren't planning on doing anything that requires fuel upgrades, i wouldn't go off and spend that money.

is your car an N/A? if it is a decent upgrade that isnt ahuge performance upgrade are turbo injectors(360cc). they are plug and play and i believe will work perfectly fine with an N/A ecu(please correct me if im wrong). if your car is turbo then you could get the DSM 450 injectors for pretty cheap and they arent a huge upgrade but enough that if you decided you wanted to upgrade in teh future it would work out

Mitsubishi Re: Injector Question

Well when I pull the broken one I am gonna clean up the others first before I go on to replace them all. The one Autozone shows in stock is like $97 but there are others listed for $150+. Am I okay buying the cheap one? I'm not tryin to be stingy but if it is just as good as the ones that cost $50 more on a stock motor then I'll spend the extra dough somewhere else under the hood. Thanks for the reply!

i have no clue, but for some reason i just knew that you drove a vr4.lol...

well, you should figure out what size injectors they are trying to sell you over at auto zone. basically what cc. it'll be a number like 210cc, or 360cc.

good luck

itll be a 210cc but i still think it might be worth it to upgrade ot the 360cc turbo injectors. you can pick up a set on here for pretty cheap. but you can always just stay your n/a size if you want. thats up to you

Wouldn't you need fuel control in order to run larger injectors than the N/A's stock size??

And what's more than that I don't see the purpose to larger injectors (or fuel control) in an N/A unless you are tuning to try and achieve a gain (which would require the fuel controller anyway), going forced induction, or you're getting NOS. I thought putting in larger injectors + running them on stock setup (i.e. NOT having a fuel controller) = running pig rich and getting horrible gas mileage, plus I believe it can cause major problems.

Unless I'm wrong on some account, or I missed something, I'd just stay with the stock size injectors (you can go ahead and get a set of 6 new ones, or replace the broken one and have the other's cleaned and flow checked as stated), especially if you're not planning large future upgrades. Seems like less of a hassle.

Even IF the 360cc injectors work without fuel control, I'm not seeing any point whatsoever to buying them, given that you aren't planning large future upgrades.

Mitsubishi Re: Injector Question

See that is why I am asking because I do plan on future upgrades. I am in a position where I need to replace one of the injectors and could probably afford to upgrade them now if I can plug and play them. If I have to upgrade beyond the injectors at this point though I will have to wait to afford the rest...

you are totally wrong.

the n/a and tt ecu's are designed to work with their specific size injectors. that is why you have to use some type of fuel controller when you install larger injectors.

on an n/a it is totally pointless to upgrade injectors for all practical purposes.

Dan, i'm sure the Autozone injector will work just fine.
