Unhappy Ignition lock trouble!!! Please help!!!

So, I'm out to see one of my "prospect" females , and I get into my car ('92 Stealth R/T NA), and the damn key decides that it doesn't want to turn.

I literally tried for about 45 minutes before it finally caught and turned. At that point I realized I wouldn't be going out with the possibility of being stuck. So thinking that maybe it was just fluke, I turned off the car and took the key out. I put the key back in and once again nothing. I even tried the spare.

I tried beating the steering wheel column thinking that maybe it was just the locking, nope, nothing, nada. So because of this crap, I missed out on a great night... It never gave trouble before, although I've only had this car for about two weeks now.

Am I going to have to get some pricey locksmith to check it out or is there something I can do myself?? Please help!!!!

When it does that grab the steering wheel and pull down to release the steering wheel lock. Thats why the key wouldn't turn.

Yeah, make the habit of leaving your wheels straight when parking (unless on a hill) and you shouldnt have a problem
