Default How to tell if your ECU is bad?

I was looking around on the net, and it says one of the common symptoms of a bad ECU (caps) that your dash has a "tick" (no, not like lifter tick) is this true for 3000/Stealths?

PS. On a side note, i was told my orange glowing turbos wasnt a normal thing, and that i'm probably running rich and was wondering if that can be linked to the ECU? And if it is, should i buy a new one, or get it rebuilt?

Thanks!

A bad ecu can cause a lot of thigs to go wrong. random cel, car running like shit and stalling etc.... It can make a noise, mine did right before it went. If your turbos are glowing they are hot, let them cool (get a turbo timer). If you are running rich if could be many things. Boost leak/ bad o2's ... I would have AV PRO rebuild it, there the best. Good luck.

i've only had the car for about 2 months, but he gave me a complete service history and theres nothing about the ECU being repaired for rebuilt, or replaced.

Yeah, i left the engine on while looking at them, i just wanted to see if they'd be a different colour. That was after about 4 or 5 miles of WOT (me and a z28 camaro were having some fun)

if the car is running fine dont worry about it. You can always pull it and check for leaks on the board.

yeah, it seems to run fine. Idles pretty nice, barely any hesitation (under WOT there is a tiny bit). But there is a bit of an oil burn (VSS and Turbos i think). But that was the first time i've ever seen the turbos glow orange, just got a bit worried.
