HELP! Is this a good idea?

Well, I've had my 93-3000GT-VR4 for about a year now.
Call me strange all you want, know why I bought it?
I played Gran Turismo 1 for Playstation.
Drove so many cars, several I had driven IRL they drove the same.
Knew this was a good platform to decide what car I wanted to own.
Picked out a 95 GTO TWINTURBO as my favorite car.
Heh, I found really close to my video game car!!!


I almost sold it within the first 6 months.
Some users may remember drawing me into this site by flaming my for sale ad.
Still, I have found this site to be helpful in my repair of this car.

Also, I wish to report that I love this car, as long as I can somehow squeek out the cost of keeping this car on the road, I will keep it.

I've put about 30k+ on my VR4, I have driven it in many different situations.
I've had about 20 other cars in my lifetime, this car wins hands down.

This is truly an amazing super car!

I forget who, but someone while flaming my for sale ad told me that it was BS that my mechanic said the car could go 200MPH.

I, head hung low, report this was correct, and I was wrong.

We did a top speed test, raced a very fast highly modded Yamaha R6 motorcycle:
His words, "My speedo was flashing 174MPH, I was doing a few better (at least 5MPH) and topped out and then some, I look over at that point and you were PASSING ME?!?!"

I'd say we hit at least 180. That was fun, however my pathetic stage 2 ebay clutch turned from: Brown to orange to red to white hot in the process.

This caused clutch bonding material to vaporize, the clutch turned into DUST!

Also, the transmission boiled! I'm running straight luccas and at least 1/4 qt boiled out of the transmission!!!

Yes, I'm probably a little crazy going so fast, no I won't do it again anytime soon mom...

Not until new tires, rotors, and probably this clutch:

Per mechanic's advise I ordered and my mechanic custom cut and sanded rounded again, an extended clutch slave pin. Let me tell you this, no offence, but if you don't have one you're kidding yourself... I honestly thought 2nd syncro was trash. Guess what? It's great still! My clutch pushes away far enough now!!!

I'd like an opinion clutch/mods if you would be so kind. This clutch is worth the money right?

My clutch maker told me that I was an idiot for going so damn fast and that I was lucky the clutch didn't explode through the transmission and firewall into the passenger area... Who knew?!

Also they noted that even a stage 4 race clutch would not hold my 400HP.
Well, 400HP when new, but not at any high high speed.

They said even a stage 4 clutch would only last 6-8 months of my driving.

I was told that this clutch I gave the link for would last 7 years?!
Is this true? I'm not super hard on it a lot but I have several clutch dooms:

I drive an AWD car
My town has lots of hills
Solid poly mounts lead to more clutch slip to not violently jerk off the line.
Lightweight flywheel leads to more slip.
The car is now 100+HP over factory spec.
Future HP should hit 500-600HP+ in a couple years.

I want to keep this car but at $600 labor per clutch change + parts every 6 months I'm going to go broke too fast!

The car feels like it's straight out of a video game, completely excesively insane. It corners at what feels suicidal with minimal tire slip.
My 0-60 is around 4 seconds with stage 2 clutch good.
1/4 est 12ish. Top speed with a good stage 2 would have been 180-190 whilst destroying clutch...

Yes, no 200MPH with stage 2 clutch silly rabbit, but bet it gets d@mn near with a triple plate lock in clutch with no slip if it hit 180+w/ mostly trash clutch!

10MM OML wires
Pulstar IR plugs gapped at 25 (no blowout as reported, excellent plugs!)
Main cat delete

Lucas Oil for trans, transfer case, engine

P.S. I need a 17" Chrome wheel I think off 94+VR4s, I have one that is trash.
I don't care if chrome is starting to flake all my others are, I just want one that's not bent badly. Shoot me a message with rim+shipping cost total and I'll buy it if you're really nice about the price and consider I'm on disability income, "yeah, super poor, with a rocket vr4..." Should be my motto... D@mn, I just made my motto didn't I?!

300+ Accel racing air filter (around 20hp?), removed main cat (around 20hp?), pulstar plugs(around 20HP? A lot of power from these for some reason), 94+ boost mod (20HP), Apexi BOV (Higher boost 30HP?), other tinkers my mechanic has done and won't talk much about. My numbers are all est, but it's kicking some real power, no joke.

Put it on a dyno, bet your closer to 280 AWHP. Maybe.

Do you think this is a good clutch choice?
Do you think it will last? How long?
How about my mods? Decent for BPUs right?

I wish I could dyno it, you may be right, I can feel a big difference over factory.
What do you think the mods I have listed add HP?
Accel racing filter, Apexi tuned BOV, pulstar IR plugs, main cat delete, etc.
I honestly don't know what tweaks the mechanic+previous owners did.
I know it jumped quite a bit from when I had it, it probably was 280 or less.

I agree slightly with both statements. What do you think an accurate estimate of HP would be?

None of those mods added power really. The free boost mod probably added 20 hp at the engine, that was your best mod. Maybe 2 hp for the filter.

Step away from the video game and lets look at the real world.

adding up mods like that doesn't work. You would need a a good downpipe a boost controller and an SAFC with a tune to break 300awhp. So think about data logging not Mechanic's magic he won't talk about. There is no mod like that (unless maybe your mechanic is Ray or Matt.)

That clutch is complete over kill. Your car isn't making real power yet. Once you do there's no way around it clutches are a pain. I'm replacing my Southbend that's good for 600ft/lbs of torque after 20k miles.
