Hey guys!
I just joined the site, and it's nice to meet you all. My name's Devan, and I'm a '93 Base Stealth owner from B.C. Canada. I love the style and sexyness of my car, but I'm looking for more power than the mediocre output of the SOHC. It's going to be too much of a hassle to do an engine swap and everything, especially considering mine's an Auto, so I've decided to upgrade. I was considering a 96 Stealth TT, but I think I've decided on getting a GTO instead. I've talked to a few different dealers, and with the 15 year restriction on importing JDMs, the GEN 2 (94+) GTOs will be legal by Julyish. I'm probably going to wait until then, and get one of the first in the continent. My main question is, what major differences are there between the GTO and the 3000GT? Obviously the badging and RHD, but other than that, are there any mechanical differences that I should be worried about as far as repairs on concerned? I know it's the same engine, which is nice. I've got friends with JDM's that have JDM only engines, and it's impossible to find parts for, but what about emissions controls, basic wiring, etc.? Anyone have any knowledge regarding the differences? Any info or input would be greatly appreciated. You guys really seem to know what your talking about. Thank you very much! -Devan |

According to Mitsubishi GTO - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - The GTO Twin Turbo had less HP.
GTO w/ 280HP vs the VR4 w/ 320HP. Not sure how accurate wikipedia is on this but that is where I am getting the information, so please be easy on me if I am wrong lol.

I guess I should of explained better.
JDMs came from the factory with 9bs and offered a dealer upgrade to 13Gs. Only Euro Spec 3000gt's had a dealer option of 13g's. So I guess the answer is yes and no, check the part # on the housing to make sure. |

There is a HP limit in Japan. The limit is 280Hp when they were in production (not sure if its that now). Many cars actually have more power (japan spec supra, GTo), but they are de-tuned in japan so they can be legal. |
