Default Ground Wire?

Got a check engine light so I went digging around under the hood. Hopefully I can get it into auto zone today and get it tested. I did however find a ground wire that was just hanging.

Its attached about middle of the drivers side and to the engine bay (nothing on the engine). Anyone know where it goes?

There are a few studs that it can reach but it looks to big for one and both studs are on the same surface.

Please help!

It goes to the rear of the plenum, just above the egr pipe that goes from the rear turbo the the plenum

Great thanks. Could this cause Check engine light to come on?
Just for clarity this is the back side of the engine if you are looking at the front of the car correct?

Nevermind i see where it goes.

I left mine off after changing the plugs and wires and did not have the CEL come on. I do however wonder what it is actually grounding...?

It wont cause a CEL.

Also Auto Zone wont be able to scan your car. They can only do 96+
