The car turned for the first time since i've owned it thanks you guys for all your help it has a rough idle but it stays on is driveable, all i had to change was the PTU who wouldve thought . My original ecu was giving a very very rough idle and i switched the ecu to one from my wrecked 95 and it leveled out a little bit, thanks guys again for all your help!!!!! |

yep its on i just need to fix the sputtering problem, then rpm is fine, the engine just sputters like if its a lawn mower, but then again the car has been sitting for two maybe three years, i wouldnt expect it to be tip top shape....but if anyone can tell me how to fix the sputtering i would appreciate it...havent changed the oil still has 3 yr old oil in it and it smokes when i turn it on....from the engine compartment...and smoke comes out of the oil cap...low oil old oil?????i here the lifters ticking as well...well any input would be greatly appreciated

Nice man! Glad to see someone else making forward progress. Anytime a car has sat that long you should get rid of that fuel and clean the tank. Change the oil and inspect all your seals and gaskets. A coolant flush and new air filter won't hurt either. Just changing the oil and fuel may reduce or eliminate the smoking and ticks. Just pointing at the easy stuff first...you might try a fuel system additive to clean it up but the better idea after 3 years of sitting would be to remove the tank and clean it out.

Not sure on that, but you should probably give the exact years of the cars you got the ecus from, just in case, as there are some things that are different, such as when datalogging ,obd I vs obd II vs Hybrid (95)
I'm sure someone more knowledgable then me will come along and answer your question, but you gotta help them help you ![]() |

Congrats on getting it running! It's always a great feeling to hear an engine come back to life after sitting for a while/long time. My former '69 Charger sat in the woods for 10+ years and I had it running within two days of purchasing it (sounded pretty mean for a 318, too).

EDIT: after some searching it appears that 94 cars have a 4 plug ecu. Therefore it will not work. I obviously do not have the 94 ecu out of the car yet... Last edited by TT4ME : 05-11-2008 at 10:00 AM. |
