thanks for all the replies guys, but it seems like the more i read, the more confused i get. (sorry in advance) If anything, im probably the biggest idiot when it comes to this stuff. i already have a exhaust system on my car, just the tips are just going down the crapper. They look like shit and i want it to be louder. Also i found out that my car is passing emission tests, so maybe thats a reason why its somewhat quiet? If you guys want pics ill go take some, but i think all i need is just tips?

i think we r all confused

do u want a completely new exhaust system?
which would increase hp, make it look good, and have sound to back it up

or do u just wanna replace the tips(look) and make it (sound) louder?

if just looking for cosmetic fix i would get new tips and gut the cat

Beyond the DP and diamet size much power isn't left on the table exhaust wise on a NA.

2.5" or 3" , mandrel or not probably all within 5 hp of each other.

You can get these tips at Pep Boys, Personally I like them but might not be your taste.
Exhaust can be a pain to get just the right sound you want. It took me twice before it sounded the way I wanted.
Just make sure you have them make a Y pipe so you get a good even flow and sound out both sides.
I just took the cat off, dynomax bullet muffler, glass pack, then Y it out the rear.

personally i love my flowmaster 40 series on my SOHC it sounds good and looks decent. being a SOHC and a stealth it only has single side exhaust but i love it. 2.5" cat back with flowmaster 40 series cost me $160 installed custom made in like 2 hours.
