Default Evo Bov

Hey guys/gals

Thanks for all the help in the past.

I am looking for a good replacement Blow Off Valve and I keep hearing in searches that the EVO VIII is a good/cheap replacement.

My question is, is it a direct replacement or does it require fabrication to go on. Also, where can I get one. I realize I can check out EVO forums for people selling their stock ones, but I would rather get from a reputed online shop then someone directly if possible

Thanks for taking the time to help out

The EVO 8 BOV's are a direct bolt on and require no modifications. Check the for sale section of evolutionm.net as the plastic Evo 8 valves tend to go for very cheap. There's some requirements to post in the sale section though so don't be afraid to use PM's.

Downside to the plastic BOV is they do leak, but probably would be good for the boost you will be running. I would just spend a little more and get a good used BOV.

Getting a used Evo BOV, there is no shame in it. Don't spend the extra money.

Just register at the forum linked above and start PM'ing people. You have to have 50 posts there in order to be able to post in the classifieds, and you, like me, don't have an Evo and don't care to discuss someone else's car.

I PM'd a few people and got about 3 offers at 35 shipped each.

Thanks for all the responses.

I probably should have asked this in the original post, but just to make sure. The EVO VIII BOV does vent to the atmosphere right? There will be sound that's louder over the stock bypass valve?

The Evo BOV runs closed loop. I guess you could somehow plug it to make it vent to the atmosphere.

It is louder than the stock BOV. If you are going up a hill in 3rd, building boost slowly, and let off the throttle very quickly, it flutters.

If you can find one, spend a little extra and get the MR BOV that is actually made of metal instead of the regular plastic EVO BOV. IMO one of the best close loop BOV for our application.

The EVO 9/MR valve is really good, That's what I'm using now. It cost me 125 though. 3SX sells them for quite a bit more Tomei Recirculating Blow-off Valve*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth

Before I personally spent the extra money, I'd ask myself what is good enough. The MR BOV is gonna be better, no doubt. But, $125 or $35? I read on the Evo forums that the plastic BOV will hold 26lbs of boost. Mine holds close to 14 just fine.

Just another point of view to consider. If you plan on going TD05, etc, etc, then go with the metal BOV.
