Well I need to replace the drivers side axle on my 92 stealth es. The boot is ripped all teh way around and I have to drive it this winter. My question being how hard is it to replace this? The parts store has them for 50 bucks plus the core, but whats the best way to go about changing one? Ive done a few where I had to remove the lower strut bolts to get the axle out and was wondering if this was like that. Also do they bolt into the transmission or is it just a slip in fit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

you can pop it out of the trans with a pry bar. everything else should be the same: just unbolt everything until the hub can flop around, powerhouse it out with gear puller.

A quick search on replace axle reveals many helpful threads in the drivetrain forum (such as this one on popping it out), but the process has not yet been documented in the wiki (though many of the initial steps are here).
