Oh and trust me, it's being bought. Hopefully by the end of this month because the owner keeps pretty busy and is usually free only on weekends.
@x2xtreme360 We agreed on $3,850 for the car. I don't think it's a bad price.
Hopefully I'll have it soon, or by the end of this month. I'll definitely be posting up some more pics when I get it!
Back on topic...well granted x2xtreme made a good list of things to take care of. But just to be specific, anything I should change out or look at before I drive it home? That's the part I'm worried most about.
The car looks nice no doubt. The tranny issue might lead to future problems but I don't know what to say beyond that. Like I said... get the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy. I don't even care if it's a 2007 car... if it's a private party with no warranty then get it checked. I would rather spend $100 bucks for piece of mind than $3800 for heavy metal. It's like using a rubber... if you don't pay the 25 cents for it now, you'll pay a helluva lot more for it later.
Re: Close to getting my 3K, and just had some questions
congrats on the fine and your right that is a rare interior combo. Before you leave, make sure the fluids are all topped off of course. Also go for a good long test drive with the guy, take many turns and get it up to at least 50 so you can test it in all driving conditions. After the drive let it idle at his place and listen to it idle for a couple minutes just to be on the safe side. As long as you do this and don't encounter any problems you should be fine to drive it back worry free.
Once you get back definitely do a tune up, spark plugs, wires, change the oil/filter, coolant, fuel filter and transmission fluid (maybe it will help with the shifting problem). Also i would go ahead and do the other parts of the 60k maintenance, water pump, tensioners etc.. And check the oil pan for dents like previously mentioned.
Also check the accessory belts for wear and tires for bald spots, damage etc.

Re: Close to getting my 3K, and just had some questions
Thanks for the info machinehead. I did something similar when I went to go see the car. Was up at 80 down the country roads since he lives out in the middle of nowhere. It was nice hearing that V6 roar outside the driver window.
Not alot of places for turns but if he'll let me I'll take it to the nearest town, because he literally lives on a farm, as you can kinda see from the pictures.
x2xtreme, like I said I'll see what I can do about taking it to a mechanic out there or somewhere. I'd honestly love to do that to see if this tranny issue will prove problematic. But I've went over that so many times in my head, and done some research on the forums and have seen that it looks to be very fixable. Mind that the car has been sitting for 2 - 3 years, so I'm hoping a good tranny flush will help it out. Maybe it's the motor mounts too, we'll have to see
Soundmaster, I honestly wouldn't want a VR4 unless I had money to burn. From what I've seen they're just maintenance machines and attention whores. Needless to say, I WOULD LOVE A VR4.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this isn't a base this is an sl. IMO worth alot more than the weak sohc engine. It looks clean and with those miles to be a decent deal. Definately would get the tranny checked, mine lasted 178,000 miles and od went out.

I need car with low miles, I'm not buying one that has only a few under the current Galant I drive. And whats wrong with a base model, Mr. 2 TT's
Come up to Manitowoc and I'll show you!
As far as mileage goes.. speaking from personal experience I would ignore it. Soooo much on these cars depend on how they were treated, not how far they have been driven. I can write a book on it but I'm sure nobody would read.

1g 3kgt's never had sohc.
an ATX tranny can be made damn near invincible if you treat it properly & add a tranny cooler & magnetic inline filter.

Also, I'm positive that isn't an SL
More like a base with alot of options. It has a sunroof, power doors and locks and whatnot. Dual stage AC (dude, that shit is AWESOME!!!!) I wish it had the really cool AC module that lights up and everything.
@TT Well like I said owner seems like an honest guy. He didn't try to bullshit me on anything and was straight-up honest about every part of the car. Said he bought it from some old lady owner at around 44xxx miles or so, and has the papers and everything to show change of ownership. And he's been careful with it too because it shows. Maybe I'll stop rambling but I'm confident with this car. Not to say I still wont try to put it through it's paces and try and get someone to check it out...
