Default Buying a motor

Ok, well we are 75% sure the knocking noise in my other thread is a rod, or something else in the block, not the head.

I have pretty much decided to buy a motor. Has anyone used the ebay companies that are selling motors "imported from japan" ?

I have a 1994 3kGT SL with a 3.0 in it, with auto transmission. Will a 6G72 or 6G74 motor work with no modification? I also found a 3.5 liter out of a Pajero, and was wondering if that will fit as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking at getting one from Kar king. They are a sister store to kormex which does awesome work on tranny's. They shot me a price of 1850 for a reman long block not to bad. Maybe some one can chime in on them They offer a lot of custom dsm stuff!

I would rather not buy a motor from a company without some re-assurance from the forum.

The Pajero should fit according to the people on here. Where did you find it? I'm also looking for a place that sells them or the Mivec 6g75.

My husband just bought a used motor in Dallas from Best Japan Auto Engines, Inc.
They're on Irving Blvd - their # is 214-630-8466. He paid about $1100.

Are you talking about Madison? Because that's just the office, there aren't any parts there. I work there in case nobody got that vibe.

I bought a motor for an 91 sl off of a company i found through enginsus.com They go through engine world in cali. My motor 1300 after shipping but yours will be alittle cheaper. When i pulled the oil pan and valve cover everything so far looks good.
