I had the same problem you did. Found out when i did my engine dress up kit that i threw away my clutch and brake check valve which caused my vac leak making me boost over 20 psi also. I bought a new one and fixed that problem. Looks like in your case you still have those. Its probably a vacum leak somewhere else, but everything still looks stock from all those engine pics. only thing is the boost controller you have. Make sure its not installed backwards because if it is, it will over boost. I know because i had my boost controller installed backwards.

ok first thing is first. your boost gauge does not read how much boost you are pushing. there are 2 sides on the boost gauge. -20 -15-10-5 0 5 10 15 20. that does not in any way tell you how much psi your car is running. if you have your boost set to 5 like me, and if you hit the gas it will go all the way to 20, telling you that you have reach 5 psi. if you have it set to 14, and hit the gas it will go to 20 telling you it has reached 14psi. the point of the boost gauge is not to tell you how much boost you are under as in 5psi or 10psi or 14psi. the point is to tell you when you have reached the amount of psi that your boost is set to. anymore questions or if you dont understand, pm me and i can give a better explanation.

This is definately not whats up. he has an aftermarket boost gauge and he is hitting fuel cut. If its a mechanical boost gauge like mine it should work the same way and that means the needle had better stop at 14psi or hes in serious trouble.

i'll look around and see if there is a leak anywheres. and syangvr4, so it should be fine after i replace the leaky hose (if there is one)? and we finally got the title from sacramento today, so we should be able to register it in n.y. now.

This is completely Wrong!!!!

A boost gauge reads BOOST! most are in psi as in pounds per square inch. Unless your boost gauge is broken, if the gauge shows 15 psi, then the pressure source its hooked up to is pressurized to 15psi.

italiano: Stop giving advice, unless you actually know what you are talking about. It's a good thing there are others here to set him straight. How do you even know your car is set to 5 psi, if your gauge reads 20??

If you find a leaky line and replace it that should help a bit. But it looks to me like your boost controller is the culprit of your high boost. If you dont have a data logger i wouldnt suggest going above 14psi. Try to turn down your boost controller and make sure its not hooked up backwards.

because i have it set at 5psi.. i had it tuned at MRD and had them leave it on 5psi. I have an apexi boost gauge, as does my 2 other friends with a 89 prelude and a 99 saab viggen. we where wondering why they went all the way to the 20 mark also so we asked around. maybe its just the kind of boost gauge we have but all three of us have the same one and they all read 20 when we hit them hard. the prelude it running 12psi, the viggen is running 15 psi, and im running 5psi. sorry if i was wrong but thats the conclusion that we came to. i doubt that all three of our boost gauges are hooked up wrong seeing that mine was hooked up by MRD and the viggens is stock and the prelude hooked his up himself.
