Default BIG Project, Would like your insight. PLEASE READ

So I have found a 1999 3000GT SL. The good news is that the interior is pretty close to mint and the engine only has 40K miles on it and the frame is straight.

The bad its a salvage title that I would finish and have as a rebuilt. and it still needs work.

I am going to attach a TON of photos because I really want to hear what your guy and girls think about this. Good deal, bad deal ...what ever you have to say.

Front

Drivers side

Hood Up

Passenger side (the bad side)

Passenger side rear quarter panel thats been repaired.

Engine bay

Sunroof with rust (no leaks on the inside)

And the interior

]

and the gages

I would say that over all I think I am getting the good end of the deal. I would think in Parts alone that I am getting more then what I will be putting out.

Any ideas or suggestions on paint color are welcome but I am thinking ether to repaint the red thats there or do a color change to Black. Being that I just moved here to Tampa, If any one knows a great, not good but, Great body and paint shop here or in the local area. Please let me know.

uh ooh... Someone needs to go back in and redo all those links... and you can only have 10pics per post so spread it out over a few posts

Edit: how much did you pay? doesn't look to horrible but the engine and sunroof look well over 40k

Very nice car Paris. Honestly it's a project, BUT it has great potential. I don't see that costing more than 3k to make perfect... Keep us update huh? Either the mileage is wrong or this car has been severely neglected.

For it being a true '99 I'd definitely keep it as a project car if the price was right.

Good luck with it, keep us updated on the progress, I'd love to see her brought back to her glory!

Name is Mike, and I didn't notice the bumper damage before just now. Fenders are cheap and you can buy a fender from any year/model 3000gt and it will fit. Parts? I can't see you spending more than a couple hundred bucks for a side skirt and a turn signal. The most expensive thing will be your paint/body work... If the bumper is damaged it's going to cost $$$ for a new one if the body shop can't fix it.

Mind you I guestimated 3k in body work/paint..but you are also going to need to do a 60k service, which can go for up to 1k. I'd personally do a 120k service and replace my pumps...that engine looks like it's been through war.

It has the potential to clean up really nice

Yeah I was going to do an over haul on the Engine. Replace all the stuff that needs it and do the 60K and 120K services..

The car is coming with all the lights and body parts. The front bumper should only be a paint issue from what I was told. I dont know yet I go to pick up the car next weekend.

From what I have been told the front passenger side fender needs attached, the small part of the head light and some basic body work and a paint job...

Thankfully I have a guy that I am going to be working with who is going to help with the body and from the sound of it I just have to pay for supply's..

So the body really should not be that much.. overall that is.

I have to get a New Master cyl. for the clutch and to the services checks...a full tune up ect.. and that will be fine..

the only part I am not sure of is the Airbags. I was thinking I should have a dealer ship put them in. Anyone have input on this?

There are write ups on the airbags. Be wary of overly cheap paint jobs..the true paint job is made or broken in the prep work. How much did you pick her up for? Stick or auto?
