Default Ask before you buy

So, that's what I'm doing. Ok here's the deal...I'm buying a VR4, but I've got to chose between two of them, either way I'm making payments but there are a couple of big differences and about $1500 difference between in price. One is a 1994 3000GT VR4 TT AWD the other is a 1994 Stealth R/TTT both have everything working. Both are at opposite ends of the country. (not a big deal)

East coast R/TTT has all power options, good interior, cold a/c, AWD, upgraded 15G turbos, Borla catback exhaust, XPS downpipe, Stillen intake, in dash DVD, 320+ HP, very fast,Pearl yellow, 160k miles, runs well, recent tune up - owner has had it 4 years and it does smoke when at idle, owner has only put about 3k a year on it (so he says). Other than that it runs and drives with clear green title....$4500 No payment schedule made yet.

West coast VR4 same options with the exception of the Sony Xplod CD/cassette player, rims and better interior, bone stock with 45k original miles. Owner has had a few weeks we were working another deal on a VR4 and was offered more than could pay cash so he took that other offer and offered me this vehicle instead. Two owners - previous owner had it 10years garage kept and driven on the weekends. Engine bay looks good very clean car looks brand spanking new. No smoking knocking or anything....down side clear salvage title......$5900 - This one has to be paid for by the 15th of October.

Local mechanic says nothing wrong with frame, was rear ended and they insurance claimed it instead of fixing it outside of insurance. Ok, so here comes the question. Which one? Below is the link to the cars the Pearl Yellow one is the RTTT and the Pearl White is the VR4

I'd go for the lower mileage VR4. It may have a salvage title, but if you are buying it for the long haul, it doesn't really matter. Salvage just hurts you when you buy and sell cars.

It sounds like the yellow one might be needing either VSS soon. I'd stay away from any TT car that has 160k miles.

Good luck on your search!

I wouldn't buy either but if that was my only choice I'd go with the one with the salvage title. I'd defnitely stay away from one that smoked and has 160k miles even if it's probably just something minor(VSS).

these cars are a little more expensive, but N/A's are cheaper than TT's ..

I thought you said they were TT ?

They are, I'm sorry...that's the one I've got to sell in order to pay for the new one and I need to gauge what all I'm going to need.

No, it's my bad....I've got a one owner GT N/A ATX and I bought it on the pretense that I didn't want a TT, now that I've had it and played with it I realize I want the other. My GT is in excellent condition but I still want a TT. If I'm not getting a TT I'm not getting rid of my car. So, I'm thinking I'll get the new paint job and get it sold.

But to build up the TT I'm getting, the one that's all stock I'm gauging the costs. I'm not going as far as datalogging and so forth, but upgrading and making sure it's done right.

I'd say the west coast VR4

Insurance companies total these things left and right, don't let the salvage title discourage you!

oh very smart idea =] Do you do the work? If not def. make sure you have a shop that is familiar with these cars do that kind of work. Or someone you may know. Make sure, of course, that all maintenance has been done, and make sure its in good shape and then go into BPU (basic power upgrades) Ill try aand look up the TT bible for you.. If anyone knows it post it for her =] Ill try n find it now.
