I know this has been asked many times, but when I researched it I couldn't find and answer for what might be wrong when you continually have the tick at running temperature but not when started cold.
Actually, maybe about 20% of cold starts I get it right away but thats about it. I heard there might be an actual problem if it persists when running warm. Last two oil changes I did were royal purple and did the rev solution but nothing. |

I have a '91 es and I live in NY/VA.
I used Royal purple from my friend because he was the one who first mentioned it my cure the problem, I didn't know/think they made it in different weights for some reason. If I had to guess it was probably 10-30 |

Well I'm do for an oil change so I'll go 10-40 Royal purple this time.
Thanks, I haven't tried either of the additives, I have never really trusted that, but if it persists do you suggest either one more than the other? |

^that sounds like voodoo to me. and you'd be the first i know of whose filter solved lifter tick.
slightly heavier oil should stop the tick. of course...you hasten the aging of your engine if you run significantly heavier oil.
