I am not sure. But I think they both have the same BLock. But different top end. I would simply measure it, or research about it. If so, I would pay 500$ for a top end with valves and DOHC from a parted out car, with new gasket and seal....There goes DOHC conversion.

The block is NOT the same. Even 6G72 DOHC to 6G72 SOHC are different blocks.

As for the swap it is far from easy or a walk in the park. The 6G74 swap alone on a DOHC requires alot but going from a SOHC is going to require much more.

but its almost the same procedure as swapping to a 6g72 dohc engine but more power so if I was pplanning to swap to a dohc I might as well go with the 3.5 l correct

If you are asking what all would I need... typically people asking this question haven't even done the research required to even begin contemplating the upgrade. You can't just say what do I need part a b and c. You have to learn about how its all going to work.
Just my 2 c.

Search is the 3rd link from the right on the menu strip directly above the ad at the top of this thread.

New Owner Questions is not the best choice of boards for this type of question.

No it is not worth it. Doing a n/a swap is a waste of time IMO. I would definitely recommend a DOHC TT swap though. Not much harder than a n/a swap and the end result will be a quick car.
