I'm fixing to paint the roof of my gf's black cavalier. It's a 2 stage paint. Just black and clearcoat. Should I wetsand down the black after I spray it before I spray the clear? Or should I just wait and wet sand down the clear?

Wet sanding is typically used on the clear coat to make it shine better. Basically you shave the layer/sand it smooth again. For the paint itself to be even better you need to focus on prep work. Good sanding, good priming and then reblocking (sanding to smooth out high and low spots). After the surface is smooth (and obviously dry) you paint then clear. Finally you wet sand. If you dont know much about it I recommend looking it up, reading up and practicing on something before you try it. Hell you can even practice on the old paint, just so you learn how not to scratch it and learn how to buff it out.

Oh I've painted and wet sanded before. However, I'v always just sprayed down the paint, then cleared it, then wet sanded, then buffed out. I was just wondering if it would be more benefitial to sand inbetween the paint and clear sprays to lessen orange peel and whatnot.
