New paint job cost?

Has anyone ever had their whole car repainted (trunk, doors, door jams, wing, and inside the engine bay) and how much did it cost? I got a estimate up here of it costing about 7 to 8k to do the job... which seemed steep to me. what should be the estimated cost for a fully painted car to grey or black?

I have a pearl white of which I am picking up from the body shop in a couple of hours. I only had the hood stripped and repainted but it will cost me 500 clams. I was quoted approximately 5-6k for the entire car and my car is the 3 stage, pearlescent paint.

If the car is already a dark color and you are staying with a darker color, it is much less expensive. 7 to 8k sounds like a lot.

going from the stock maroon/purple car to hopefully a grey or black

Providing there is minimal body work, it should cost no more than 3k for a color change, in your case. Shop around some more. Good luck.

are you wanting a complete color change? Like engine bay and stripped interior or just the exterior? I can believe 8k if they are doing the car inside and out. but no more than 3k for a basic exterior color change that you cant see without pulling parts off.

Including trunk & engine bay? Good luck

7-8k for black is not anything unusual.

well i can't take off the paint myself nor do the paint job (no place to do it and i want it good looking) I do wonder how they will paint the engine bay? will they have to remove the engine and is this where they are comnig up with huge amount?

Stupid me....I just realized, you are inquiring about the cost to paint much more than what is visable on the exterior. Yea, that could cost 7-8k easy!

allright thanks for your fast responses hmm looks like i'll be sticking with maroon/purple for awhile longer XD maybe i showed just get something to make it not so i don't even know what to say... lol any ideas?

Yep, no other way to do it. Most of the better shops out there make their real money doing insurance work, so when you take your car in for a paint job they have to justify spending their time on your car. I've worked in a few shops and just a normal exterior repaint of the same color will generally cost ya in the 3-4 thousand range.
