My 3k most def. needs a new paint job, The factory paint is red and i want to get it re-painted black, i was just wondering where i should go? I live in the So-cal area, and how much is this going to cost ? Can i get an estimate from people who got theirs done? I only have like 1k to spend..
$2k will get just a decent maaco paint job. It's like $150 each for inside the doors another $120 for under hood and like $200 for around engine. it all adds up very quick if you want it right. My friends was like $1500 and it came out just decent at maaco. Prolly more expensive down there for you guys too.
i would just live with it the way it is. A good color change paint job is going to be like $5000
Reasons i feel like i need to get it painted:
getting a bunch of carbonfiber parts, aftermarket 99 wing, hood, etc. and i dont like how it will look with red, seems ricy imo.
But there are mad scratches on the front and rear bumper.
paint is acctually chipping off and u can see the plastic on the bumper.
sundamaged.
Red causes too much unwanted attention..
Parts look/match better and easier to find with black color scheme.
But,
Maybe i could just get the front & bumper and re-painted then a clearcoat thruout the rest of the body?

what do you guys think i should do?
Not willing to spend more than 2g's on paint.
Do it right or don't do it at all.
Keeping it red is going to be your cheapest option
if your lookin for a scratch n shoot cheap paint job then your in the neighborhood. If you want it to look sexy your not even close.
Remember if your red now all the jambs including the hatch, the inside of the door itself, and under the hood all have to be done. If you have dings, rock chips, and plastic skirt/front bumper road damage, your lookin at $1000 just in prep and jamb painting.
Maco cheap job where if you open anything it flashes red then $795 to $1100
Quality done right then $2500 to $10,000 depending on how showroom you go...

I dont want a super flashy paint job.. Just a decent one that would last for maybe 3-5 years. Honestly i dont even know if the car is going to last that long. it already has 130k miles on it. SO i dont mind going for a cheaper paint job. I could even leave the inner parts red
But i agree, i rather have it done right.
All these high numbers are making me re-think this paint job thing,
On the brighter note
How about making sure the car is completely maintained as need first?
I obviously don't know that condition of your car, but I have read posts from users getting 200,000 plus miles on their 3s and it is still running strong because they keep up with the proper maintenance for the vehicle.
If you have any concerns about your car's reliability, get those things worked out first. then buy your C/F fiber parts.
A good looking car will not do you any good when it is not running.
Also about painting, don't waste money on it, or anything for that matter unless it is what you want, how you want for your car.
