Awesome job!!! One quick question maybe a dumb one... but when moulding a body kit how do you ensure its symmetrical? Again i don't know anything about the process, i always figured body kits were done by laser machine precision, and then installed on the car.
Anyways none the less, looks awesome =-) |

After the wallputty , I put a layer of waterbased, glossy paint. Then I used a thin layer of "release liquid". Then glassfiber to make the form. Again the "release liquid" to finally make the final product.. Does it make any sense?.. hahahah Feel free to ask moore questions.. Hope I had influenced you with my project.. Would be fun to see more projects going on in your garage, guys!!!... My goal with my project where to have a unique car. Wanted something no one else has, so I made my own styling.. For examble... The Bomex are very popular here in Sweden.. / Glenn |

Oh, paint on top of the foam! I have actually started my widebody (if you call it) on my 91VR4 about 4 years ago! I have done the 99 conversion with a lip, vertical doors, Pitroad M hood (open forward like a corvette), 99 combat wing, and had the fenders flared 1" on all 4 corners. The hold-up is building the custom sideskirts and a few other custom trim pieces to make the flared fenders flow with the nose and rear bumper. I might make a new rear bumper instead of trim pieces.
I've put this project on the back burner after my daughter was born and I also put some time into my Hayabusa. Now it's time to get her back on the operating table. I have someone who does excellent fiberglass work. He actually built his own molds of a 32 coupe, 33 Willy's and a couple other cars. I haven't gotten the chance to see how he does the whole fiberglass thing so when I stumbled across this thread I was pretty amazed how you used cans of Great Stuff foam! Great work Glen! Here's my 2 wheeled baby!! Last edited by First VR4 : 02-19-2008 at 07:02 PM. Reason: added photo |
